Barbara A. Lowrie Barbara A. Lowrie, 75, of Corsica, passed away Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018 at her home following a courageous fight with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born December 3, 1942 in Pittsburgh; daughter of the late Paul and Ethel Coyle Burlett. Barb graduated in 1960 from Saint Benedict's Academy in Pittsburgh. After raising her family, she returned to school at La Roche College and earned her bachelor's degree at the age of 52. Upon graduation, she took a job as an administrative assistant for La Roche. Barb also worked as a bereavement counselor for Miller Funeral Home in Bellevue. She married Joseph Lowrie on May 30, 1962, and he survives. Barb was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion, where she was a lector and worked with the funeral team. Barb was a member of the hand bell choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion. She was also a volunteer at the Clarion Free Library and a former member of the Red Hats. Barb enjoyed quilting, landscaping, and outdoor work. She also hated canned peas. Barb is survived by her loving husband, three sons, Joseph Lowrie, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Pittsburgh, Dennis Lowrie and his girlfriend, Teri of Pittsburgh, and Max Lowrie and his wife Tina of Corsica, a daughter, Jennifer Heflin and her husband Dave of Pittsburgh, and eight grandchildren: Amanda, Rebecca, Jessica, Melanie, Madeline, David, Paul, and Grace. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Burlett of Illinois and a sister, Leslie Jones and her husband Joe of Florida. Barb was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion with a Wake Service to be held at 4 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor presiding. He was the husband of 19 years to Joan T. (Sandroni) Helfrich; father to Robert Helfrich, Kathleen Helfrich Miller, Louis Helfrich (Sharon), David Helfrich (Kathleen); stepchildren Donald Meyer, Darlene Meyer Giodano (Chad), Denise Meyer Kennell; grandfather of Tom (Leigh) Miller, Karl (Kathryn) Miller, Melinda Helfrich Boulware (Kelly), Kristin Helfrich (Adam Kampmeyer), Matt Helfrich (Kathryn), Lauren Helfrich Rockacy (Ryan), Jared Helfrich (Elizabeth); eleven great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren; and also survived by brother Edward Helfrich. He was preceded in death by wife of 43 years Rose; sisters Florence, Mary, Tharsella, Colletta and Margaret, and brother William. James was an US Air Force veteran. Additionally, a pharmacist for Thrift Drug Store and District Manager, he worked from 1968 until 1989, and also with Medicap until the age of 80. Broadbent Franklin "Frank" R. Broadbent, 84, of Bellevue, died Monday, January 8, 2018. He was the husband of the late Doris (Murray) Broadbent; brother of John W. (late Catherine) Broadbent and James S. (Patricia) Broadbent and the late Dorothy (William) Hurley, Anna (Pete) Forsythe, George (Dolly) Broadbent, Rita (J.R.) Kujawa, Alvin Broadbent and Norman Broadbent, Jr.; also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Frank served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a telecommunications installer for Western Electric. Frank was an avid golfer, golf ball hunter, bowler and beer drinker. He was a collector of plastic bags, cardboard boxes, greeting cards, used envelopes and plastics food containers. Friends received on Friday, 2–8 p.m. at the Lawrence T. She was the wife of 60 years to the late Elmer Andrew Hohn; mother of Karen (Michael) McKee and Susan (Tim) Bursby; sister of Shirley Black; grandmother of Brittany (Matt) Peterson, Steven (Meghan) McKee, Ashley Nocera, Jennifer McKee and Chelsea Bursby; and great-grandmother of Connor Peterson. "Rick" Zimmer, 68, of Bellevue formerly of the North Side, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 with his brother and sister at his side. Son of the late Harold S. Zimmer and Mary (Moore) Zimmer; brother to Joseph, Robert, Janice Zimmer, Jane (Michael) Braunlich of Bellevue, Tammy (Terry) Bowman of Jackson Twp., and the late Harold A. "Tony" and James Zimmer; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rick was a devoted Christian who gave to many charities. He also loved his music "The Oldies".
