Suspect arrested in Avalon homicide

Allegheny County Police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of an Avalon man Saturday night. Police were called to the 100 block of California Avenue, near Delp Street, at 10:21 p.m. Saturday. They found Theodore Denver Parks Jr., 38 , of Avalon, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest, police say. He was transported to an area hospital where, according to the County, he died just before midnight. Taken into custody at the scene was Brennan Lamar Fife, 31 , also of Avalon. He later was charged with one count of criminal homicide. Fife was scheduled for trial on Jan. 31, 2022 on charges of simple assault, strangulation and harassment filed by Avalon Police following an incident on June 25, 2021. A preliminary hearing on the homicide charge is scheduled for Dec. 29. Police have not yet released a narrative of what led up to the shooting, but witnesses report that there was some interaction between the two men, and that the shooting was not random.
