Local student dies following robbery in Pittsburgh

&emsp;&emsp;A recent graduate of Avonworth High School died Sunday of injuries he received during a robbery on Tuesday, July 27, at the U-Haul center where he worked.&emsp;&emsp;Jacob (Jake) Jaillet, 21, was a 2018 graduate of Avonworth, where he was active in baseball and football. He was a student at Edinboro College, and worked for U-Haul's center there as well as at the Washington Boulevard location where the robbery occurred.&emsp;&emsp;Police say that Braijon Burton, 21, of Garfield, became angry while attempting to rent a truck at the U-Haul center. He is reported to have shot Jaillet twice then fled in the truck. Burton led police on a brief pursuit along Route 28 before crashing the truck into a police car, injuring a Pittsburgh Police officer. Burton was arrested and faces multiple charges.&emsp;&emsp;According to U-Haul, Jaillet remained in the intensive care unit at an area hospital, where he was able to communicate with family via a letter board before he died Sunday morning.&emsp;&emsp;Jake leaves his parents, Jeff and Tami; a sister, Hope; and grandparents. A celebration of his life will be held at Mayernik Center at Avonworth Community Park on Friday, Aug. 6, 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Pittsburgh Foundation, pittsburghfoundation.org/Triple J Fund.&emsp;&emsp;U-Haul is accepting donations to help the Jaillet family pay medical and funeral expenses.
