The Northgate School Board gave special recognition to retiring attendance and child accounting secretary Carol Lipke, who is retiring. Lipke has worked for the district since 1981.Also during Monday's regular meeting, the board accepted the resignations of head girls' softball coach Michael Bichko and assistant softball coach Nicole Smith.The board also accepted the resignation of part-time Avalon Elementary custodian John Stiger, and hired Amanda Sedell and Daniel Silvester as substitute custodians.A number of youths were hired as summer custodians, including Jonathan Balchus, Adam Burns, Fran Camello, Joshua Chaussinand, Connor Doscher, Jesse Doscher, Justin Mayhugh, James Silay, Jacob Stiger and Sean Tusa.The board also agreed to approve understandings with the district's unions to allow employees to choose between an HMO and a PPO health care insurance plan. Board members said the option would allow employees to eliminate their deductibles, as well as save the district money.Incoming superintendent Dr. Joseph Pasquerilla was approved to work days in June prior to his official July 1 start date, and current superintendent Dr. Reggie Bonfield will work days in July so that there is a smooth transition in the position.
