Chae Son "Jason" Yu

Chae Son "Jason" Yu, 54, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025. Jason was born on July 30, 1971 in Seoul, South Korea. Moving to Los Angeles at the age of 10, Jason worked hard to learn English and learn about American culture. There, he met his wife of 28 years, Patricia (Patty). It's still undecided if he approached her first or vice versa (the story is still disputed). He eventually graduated from the University of Southern California, and together, Jason and Patty moved to Pennsylvania. Jason's life was a complicated journey, but he knew how to laugh his way through. Whether it be sarcastic jokes, making funny faces, or constantly trying to get his wife to agree to adopting another dog, Jason knew that the most important things in life were family and laughter. He loved working with his hands, from building computers to working on a car to fixing the house; he could do it all. Like many Asian families, Jason knew that love was shown through a home-cooked meal. He liked to joke that he taught his wife everything she knows about cooking (she contests this, of course). It is hard to summarize a person's life into a few paragraphs. But Jason's life will continue to live on in the memories and the lives of his children. While this is a sad time, Jason would have wanted his wife, children, and the other lives he touched to continue living. Whenever there was hardship, he would say, "This is a part of life." He would not say this dismissively, but instead to recognize that these experiences shape who we are as people and to cherish every moment we are given. No one ever wants to face this part of life, but his family remains grateful for the time they had with Jason. Jason is survived by his wife, Patricia Jean, and his children, Courtney Kay (28), Christian David (20), and Caylee Addison (18).
