Suzanne (Smith) Jones Kaskey

Suzanne (Smith) Jones Kaskey, 77, of Pittsburgh, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born February 15, 1948, in Uniontown, PA, to the late Raymond M. Smith Jr. and Lavenia (Bergman) Smith, Sue grew up in Crafton and Bethel Park. After graduating from Bethel Park Senior High School, she worked at Rockwell International, impressively rising to Manager of Media Relations. In 1975, she married the late Ronald F. Jones. Known by dear friends for their epic Steeler parties, they later founded Smith and Jones Communications, which they ran from home while raising their children Whitney and Eric. After Ron passed in 1997, she held her family together with a grace, resilience, and love her children will carry forever. In 2012, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, William Kaskey Jr., and they married in 2023. Bill brought love, laughter, and new friendships into her life, reigniting a light in Sue, to the delight of all who knew her. Sue was known for her class, tenacity, sharp wit, and warm laugh. She played cards with the same competitive spirit her mother once did, but often let her grandson, Camden and sometimes Bill, believe they had fairly won a hand. She is deeply missed by her husband Bill, children Whitney and Eric (Addy), grandson Camden, and beloved grand-dogs. Sue was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond "Bus" Smith III and James Smith, brothers-in-law, John M "Jack" Flynn and Robert McSorley and sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth "Boo" Smith. She leaves behind her sisters Lavenia "Honey" Flynn Seary of Framingham, MA and Janet McSorley of Lewis Center, OH, brothers Robert Smith of Camarillo, CA and Michael Smith (Alissa) of Mill Spring, NC and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Smith of S. Dartmouth, MA and Mary Jo Smith of Frisco, TX; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Sue's name are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or an animal welfare group of one's choice. Arrangements by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc.
