2024 Election: The Boros stay true blue

&emsp;&emsp; Not at all surprisingly, the voters of the North Boroughs veered from the majority in Tuesday's General Election, where Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and United States Senate candidate David McCormick did not win a single municipality, ward or even district in the seven boroughs and townships that make up the local community.&emsp;&emsp;And in state and regional contests, voters from the North Boroughs helped re-elect Democratic incumbents.&emsp;&emsp;At the top of the locally decided ballot, Democratic U.S. Congressman Chris DeLuzio of the 17th Congressional District, defended his seat in the House against Republican challenger Rob Mercuri. DeLuzio received 238,775 votes to Mercuri's 205,894 in the district that represents both Beaver and parts of Allegheny counties.&emsp;&emsp;In the local state house races, Democratic incumbents Emily Kinkead of the 40th Legislative District and Dr. Arvind Venkat of the 30th Legislative District both fought off Republican challengers. Kinkead received 20,911 votes compared to challenger Matt Kruth's 14,474. Venkat's race was a bit tighter, as he received 21,681 votes to the 17,632 for Republican Nathan Wolfe.&emsp;&emsp;In the federal races, voters in the North Boroughs left no doubt that they supported Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the U.S. presidency.&emsp;&emsp;In Avalon, Harris led more than two-to-one, with 1,794 votes to the 887 cast for Trump.&emsp;&emsp;The same was true in Bellevue, where 2,968 votes were cast for Harris, compared to 1,385 for Trump.&emsp;&emsp;That statistical trend continued in Ben Avon, where Harris beat Trump 843-389.&emsp;&emsp;In Ben Avon Heights, the vote for Harris totaled 173, while Trump picked up 119.&emsp;&emsp;Things got a bit tighter in Emsworth, where the Harris-Trump totals were 734-631. That also was true in Kilbuck, where the Harris win was 269-245.&emsp;&emsp;Finally, in Ohio Township, Harris received 2,567 to Trump's 2,172.&emsp;&emsp;The results for the U.S. Senate race, which has yet to be decided, reflected the same Democratic preference. Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey received local support in his continuing battle against Republican challenger Dave McCormick.&emsp;&emsp;Avalon voters picked Casey 1,772 - 832. In Bellevue, Casey picked up 2,904 votes to McCormick's 1,344. Ben Avon voters picked Casey 817-399, while the totals in the Heights were 163-127.&emsp;&emsp;Casey took the Emsworth vote 727-606, and in Kilbuck Casey won narrowly, 268-231.&emsp;&emsp;Ohio Township voters gave Casey 2,494 votes to McCormick's 2,216.&emsp;&emsp;All local vote totals are unofficial until certified by the Allegheny County Elections Office. &emsp;&emsp; &emsp;&emsp;
