North Boros 5k

&emsp;&emsp;North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) and the Northgate Cross Country team will team up again this year to sponsor the North Boroughs 5k race along the streets of Avalon and Bellevue. The North Boroughs 5k is a partnership between the local nonprofit and the school's cross country team that raises money for both organizations.&emsp;&emsp;This year's race will begin at 8 a.m. on Aug. 10 at Greenstone United Methodist Church, 939 California Ave. in Avalon.&emsp;&emsp;Sponsorships available starting at $100. Registration is $20 for walkers and $35 for 5k runners at NHCO.org/north-boroughs-5k&emsp;&emsp;This marks the fourth year of the collaboration between NHCO and Northgate's cross country team.&emsp;&emsp;North Hills Community Outreach's North Boroughs office is located in Avalon – one of three main offices focused on providing emergency services, case management, and assistance for older adults across the North Hills region. "We have seen increased need since 2020," explained director of development and communications Lizzy Zimmerman. "Many families are trying to make ends meet with their money not going nearly as far. We are here to make sure families stay fed, that roofs stay above their heads, and anyone who is experiencing crisis, hardship or poverty has somewhere to turn."
