Artist shows a new view of Pgh

&emsp;&emsp;The John Hermann Jr. Art Museum will host the paintings of Pittsburgh newcomer Nick Ruble, formerly of Denver, but for the past few years a proud resident of the city that has appealed to his style and has provided many of the settings for his art.&emsp;&emsp;Over 20 new selections of his work will be shown Sept. 9 - Oct. 10, with one of his favorites being a formerly popular spot in the center of the city, the McDonald's restaurant once located on Stanwix Street, close to Market Square.&emsp;&emsp;Ruble said, "Many people walked by it every day, but when they saw the painting, it felt like they were seeing it for the first time."&emsp;&emsp;That "first-time feeling" provides much of Ruble's inspiration. Jack's, a popular East Carson Street bar, provides another such setting, with many patrons frequenting that hot-spot, but probably very few giving much attention to the design or the character of the bistro.&emsp;&emsp;He admits that since moving here, he sees the city with a fresh view. "I try to capture Pittsburgh the way I see it the moment that it strikes me," Ruble said. "Lots of my work is South Side-based. That's where my studio is located and I spend lots of time there."&emsp;&emsp;All of Ruble's watercolors are painted on high quality professional grade heavyweight watercolor paper, and his mixed media acrylics are painted on custom-built, hand-stretched canvas.&emsp;&emsp;The Hermann showing will be Ruble's first museum display of his art, and he is looking forward to it ."Opening night is getting closer! I'm so grateful to the fantastic people over at the John A. Hermann Museum for giving me the opportunity to display my work in their beautiful space."
