Dolores Stapanik Dolores "Dolly" Stapanik died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Hardesty; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rozalia Stapanik; and four siblings, Mary Louise Wisniowski, John Stapanik, Agnes Kosinski and Helen Westover. Friends were received at Thomas P. Searight, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015.

Paul Glevicky Jr. Paul A. Glevicky Jr., 78, of Brighton Heights, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015. He worked in the steel industry for 47 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing bingo.

Evelyn Guzzo Evelyn Arndt Guzzo, 66, of Coraopolis, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in Good Samaritan Hospice of Beaver. Mrs. Guzzo was a 1966 graduate of Moon High School. She served on the Coraopolis Public Library board for nine years. She was an avid reader and a sketch artist.

The only cell tower in Emsworth may be relocated and enlarged, if the variance requests of a tower company are granted by the Emsworth Zoning Board. The board will hold a meeting next week to hear more comments from the public.

A zoning hearing was held Thursday, June 11, at the Emsworth Borough Building, during which Crown Castle, a company that owns more than 50,000 towers across the United States, sought relief from permitted use and property setbacks in accordance with Emsworth Zoning Ordinance No. 925.

Dr. James V. Jordan Dr. James V. Jordan, 72, of Bellevue, died July 6, 2015. Mr. Jordan practiced law for many years from his office in Bellevue. He was the beloved husband of the late Sara "Sally" Jordan; son of the late Harry and Mary Jordan; brother of Harry and the late William Jordan; uncle of Jessica and Meggan. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2-8 p.m. at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Brighton Heights. A Blessing Service will be held Saturday, july 11, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Greenwood memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

Raymond Penfield Raymond J. Penfield, 72, of Ohio Township, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Mr. Penfield was a longtime member of the Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Dept., Station 220.

On June 21, Ohio Township Police received a criminal mischief report from a plan on Duff Road. Vehicle tracks were seen through the grass, and a water line and sprinkler system box had been run over.

Officers were called to a grocery store on Ben Avon Heights Road on June 23 for someone attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription.

On June 24, Ohio Township Police received a report of criminal mischief at Avonworth Community Park. Damage was done to the door frame of the concession stand. Nothing was reported to be missing.

Robert Besser Robert John Besser, 79, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Bellevue and husband of the late Betty Schiellien Besser, died Sunday, June 7,2015. Mr. Besser was a Bellevue High School and Duquesne University graduate. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Haughin of Zelienople and Mary Alice Naylor of Bradenton, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerick and Elizabeth Pohlot Besser; and his brother, Emerick Besser. Services and burial were held in Arizona.

Dale Pritchard Dale E. Pritchard, 50, of Avalon, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Mr. Pritchard was a lifetime member of Kilbuck Township Volunteer Fire Co. He is survived by his wife, Cathy A. Trischler Pritchard; two children, Joseph E. Pritchard and his wife Kristen and Katelyn M. Pritchard; two siblings, Glen Pritchard and Wendy Crawford; his grandson, Landon J. Pritchard; and nieces and nephews.

Craig Dickson Craig Bruce Dickson, 63, of Emsworth, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Mr. Dickson was a 1970 graduate of Avonworth High School. He enjoyed music, cars, motorcycles and a good cheeseburger. He is survived by his partner, Jeanne McMahan and her daughter, Lesley Allison and her husband Harry; and his brother, Joel Dickson and his wife Carolyn. Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Saturday. Russell Bookser Russell Noel Bookser, 63, of Denton, TX, formerly of Pittsburgh and the husband of the late Debra Keast Bookser, died Friday, May 22, 2015 in Presbyterian Hospital, Denton. Mr. Bookser was retired from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He was a member of Stanfield Masonic Lodge in Denton. He was a former member of Brighton Heights Lutheran Church, Laurel Gardens Volunteer Fire Co. and a social member of Sgt. Joseph D. Caskey American Legion Post #80, all in Pittsburgh.

Charles M. Clark, 30, of Portsmouth, OH, was charged by Ohio Township Police with driving under the influence and other charges, following a traffic stop on Ohio River Boulevard in Emsworth on May 23.

On May 25, Ohio Township officers re-ceived a report of a threat received by a business on Ohio River Boulevard.

Kevin Kelly, 47, from Cranberry Township, was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving following a traffic stop on Camp Horne Road in Ohio Township on May 31.

Avonoworth valedictorian Ryan Johnston, the son of Michelle and Keith Johnston of Ben Avon, will attend Georgetown University where he intends to major in finance.

Avonworth salutatorian Billie Jo Richardson, daughter of Michele Richardson of Ohio Township, will attend Clemson University, where she intends to major in biology. Billie Jo is the recipient of an annual $7,500 merit scholarship.

Robert Adams Robert C. Adams, 68, of Emsworth, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Mr. Adams was a teacher and principal/administrator in the North Hills School District for 33 years. He was a local registrar for the PA Dept. of Health, Division of Vital Records for the past 18 years.

Jehan Sandhu, 26, from Bell Acres was charged with prohibited acts and two traffic violations following a traffic stop on Ohio River Boulevard in Emsworth on April 23.

Kimberly Adkins, 36, of McCandless, was charged with prohibited acts and possession following a traffic stop on Camp Horne Road in Ohio Township on April 23.

Following a traffic stop on Ohio River Boulevard in Emsworth on April 23, William John King, 46, and Natasha Carpenter, 29, both of Washington, PA, were charged with prohibited acts, possession, and possession with intent to deliver.

The body of a man found at the Emsworth Locks and Dam last week has been identified as that of a young Wilmerding man whose family has been searching for him since March 7.

Ohio Township Police were called to the locks about 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, after a fisherman saw the body floating in shallow water. Emsworth and Neville volunteer firefighters helped recover the body of Andre Robinson, 20.

Robinson was last seen leaving his family’s home in Wilmerding on the evening of March 7. His family offered a reward for information on his whereabouts.
