The Citizen offices have a special guest today -- a tiny puppy named Cooper who belongs to a friend but likes to visit with his Aunt Connie.

Normally Christmas Eve is a day filled with last-minute holiday hysteria, as we realize that time has just about run out on all the things we haven't managed to do in the last month. Maybe even the last year.


Everyone is welcome to attend a candlelight Christmas Eve service at Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24.

The service will include favorite Christmas carols, and select performances by the church’s choir and a variety of musicians.

Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church is located at 1828 Roosevelt Rd. in Ohio Township, where Roosevelt intersects with the top of Mt. Nebo Road. Anyone with questions can call (412)741-6880.


Emanuel’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue will hold Christmas Eve services on Friday, Dec. 24. At 4:30 p.m. there will be a family-oriented worship with communion. Candlelight worship will be held at 9 p.m.

A free Christmas Eve dinner will be served at Greenstone United Methodist Church on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.

A candlelight service will be held at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church, 939 California Ave. in Avalon.


For the second year in a row, North Hills Community Outreach is giving away a car through its Community Auto program on Christmas Eve. The recipient of the “Too Big for the Stocking” event will receive a fully detailed and inspected 1999 Chrysler Town & Country minivan that seats seven and has a retail value of over $5,000.


Faith Community Christian Church, 638 California Ave., Avalon, will hold a family Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.
