Northgate School District will hold kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 6, at the Northgate middle/ high school, 589 Union Ave., 8:30 -10:30 a.m.and 5 -7 p.m.

A yard sale and “Family Fun Fest” will be held at the DoorWay, 520 Orchard Ave., Avalon, on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The yard sale will be held 9 a.m.-noon, and will feature furniture, household items, toys and more.

The Fun Fest will be held noon-3 p.m. It will include games, prizes, candy and food, live music and entertainment and skits.

A women’s Bible study group at the main building, 10 California Ave., on Mondays at 7 p.m.

Avalon NOW! will hold a community-wide clean-up day on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants in this year’s Good Friday “Cross Walk” will meet at Greenstone United Methodist Church, corner of California and North Home avenues at 11:15 a.m. on Good Friday, April 6.

Taking turns carrying a full-sized wooden cross, members of local churches will make their way down Lincoln Avenue, pausing for readings and prayers along the way. The Cross Walk will end at Bellevue United Presbyterian Church (the church next to Bellevue Elementary) just before noon.

The North Suburban Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. at Avalon Elementary School and travels along California and Lincoln avenues to Bayne Park in Bellevue. It is open to all North Boroughs residents.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Avalon Elementary. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best costumes in preschool through sixth grade, adults and combined group categories.

A fall festival will be held in Bayne Park immediately following the parade.

Robert Adams Robert C. Adams, 68, of Emsworth, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Mr. Adams was a teacher and principal/administrator in the North Hills School District for 33 years. He was a local registrar for the PA Dept. of Health, Division of Vital Records for the past 18 years.

Rosella Hanni Rosella Giunta Hanni, 93, of Independence Village, Frankenmuth, MI, formerly of Pittsburgh and wife of the late Anthony Giunta and Richard Hanni, died Sunday, April 12, 2015. Mrs. Hanni enjoyed reading and an occasional trip to the casino.

Fr. Thomas Ferris Fr. Thomas B. Ferris died Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Fr. Thomas had been assigned to St. James Parish, Sewickley, St. Paul Cathedral, Pittsburgh and had spent five years with the St. James Society in missions to South America, St. Joseph Parish, Coraopolis, St. Agatha Parish, Ellwood City, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Finleyville, St. Patrick Parish, Canonsburg and St. Cyril of Alexandria Parish, Brighton Heights.

Killian Duffy Killian M. "Kelly" Duffy died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. She is survived by five siblings, Kenneth M. Duffy of California, Kieren Duffy-Gibson and her husband Rich, Keven M. Duffy and his wife Pam, Kimberly M. Duffy and her husband Michael and Kristin M. Duffy-McDaniel and her husband Keith; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mary Beth Duffy.

Mary Ann Bellin Mary Ann Bellin, 82, of Bellevue, formerly of Shadyside and wife of the late Clyde A. Bellin, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. She is survived by five children, Lisa Froehlich and her husband Ron, Thomas Bellin, Paula Salas and her husband Oscar, Cynthia Zingaro and her husband Joseph and Timothy Bellin; her sister, Clara Josephites; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. There was no visitation. Arrangements were made by Walter J. Zalewski Funeral Home, Lawrenceville.

Ellen Clark Ellen M. Carr Clark, 83, of Emsworth, wife of the late Raymond Clark, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013. She is survived by two sons, Raymond Clark and his wife Rhonda Starkey of Westford, MA and Ed Clark and his wife Patty of Ohio Twp.; two siblings, Phyllis Fellure and Albert Carr; four grandchildren, Ashley Slaney, Chelsey, Alex and Corey Clark; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Thomas, Edmund, Joseph and Kenneth Carr and Lois Korando.

Anna Mae Ettore On Sunday, June 16, 2013 Anna Mae (Eidenschenk) Ettore, of Frederick, MD, formerly of Bellevue, was taken from her beloved family to be with the Lord. She leaves behind her beloved husband Michael ,to whom she was married to for over 50 years; two daughters, Kimberly (Edward) Hock and Christina (Michael) Robinson and her only grandson Eric. She also leaves behind one niece and four nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Noel.

Mary Patricia West Mary Patricia "Pat" West, 85, of Bellevue, wife of the late Jim West, died Thursday, May 23, 2013. Mrs. West was a Robert Morris University graduate, then called a secretarial school. She worked at Suburban General Hospital. She enjoyed traveling locally and to favorite vacation destinations by bus or on cruise ships with friends.

The Ladies of Charity of Risen Lord Parish, 3250 California Ave. in Brighton Heights, will hold a “Gathering of Women” on Sunday, May 5.

It will start with an 11 a.m. mass, and include a light luncheon. Speakers will include Letty Calvetti on spirituality, and the county sheriff on safety.
