Northgate students, from left, Nate O'Mara, Paul Baldauff, Alec Likens, Hailey McClain and Michael Thomas work on projects that will be displayed at the Arts Odyssey on March 3. The district will present the annual event celebrating the arts at the middle/senior high school from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Middle/high school art instructor Lory Farrow said that all students who participate in any creative arts electives, K-12, are involved. Working with Farrow is elementary art instructor Kelly Sorce. The event kicks off with “Food & Fun” from 4:30 to 6 p.m., followed by music and choral performances from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The band, under the direction of Jessica Haberman, the elementary chorus, directed by Maggie Acker, and the middle/senior high chorus under the direction of Kelly Winovich will perform. Musical director Karen Klicker’s cast of this year’s production of “James and the Giant Peach” will give a sneak preview. In addition to the displays and the performances, raffle baskets and refreshments will be available. Finally, Clayton Berwick’s industrial arts students will display projects --some of them near completion, some of them works in progress -- that include single and two-seated Adirondack chairs, and display cabinets, along with tables and shelves created in classes that focus on developing woodworking skills.
