New aerial arrives in Bellevue

Bellevue’s gift from the federal government -- a brand new aerial firetruck purchased with the help of a $600,000 grant -- has arrived in the borough and is in service to local fire calls. Several members of the Bellevue Volunteer Fire Company -- who applied for the grant -- and members of some neighboring departments spent a recent Saturday afternoon going over the new truck, which bears the motto “Failure is not an option.” The fire company also has obtained a grant of $300,000 that will be used to replace the borough’s pumper firetruck. The BVFC currently is conducting a fund-raising letter drive, and accepting donations by mail or drop-off at the Hawley Avenue fire station.
