Athletes sign letters of intent


Five Avonworth High School seniors signed letters of intent to attend colleges and universities, Avonworth High School senior athletes recently accepted offers from area colleges and universities and signed letters of intent. Whitney Brown, a six-year volleyball stand-out, will attend Robert Morris University, where she will major in pre-medicine.Whitney is the daughter of Jason Brown and Kim Gourley of Ben Avon Heights,

Addy Helffrich, daughter of George and Amy Hellfrich of Kilbuck, lettered in softball for the past four years. Addy will attend Washington and Jefferson College, where she will major in actuarial science.

Emily Paszkiewicz literally grew up on the soccer field, playing the sport for the past 12 years. The daughter of Kelly and Joe Paszkiewicz of Ohio Township, Emily will attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania to major in criminology.

Nathan Slenska played several positions in his four years of baseball. The son of Amy and Michael Slenska of Ben Avon Heights, Nate will attend Rochester University to major in either biology or business.

Elaina Tkaczenko, another four-year softball stand-out, is the daughter of Sandra and Michael Swadlo of Ohio Township. Elaina will attend Carlow University, where she will major in early childhood education/special education.
