Pictured above from left are cast members: standing -- Debbie Van Maele, Patrick Abramowich, Susan Abramowich, Bruce Travers, David Hyser, John Ewart II; seated -- Mace Porac, Mark Metzler, Jean Kmetz-Donovic, Cathy Gialloreto. One of Simon's many successful plays, "Rumors" opened on Broadway in 1988 and ran for nearly 18 months. The setting is the townhouse of the deputy mayor of New York, who has just shot himself, and though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to gather there for their 10th wedding anniversary. The host lies bleeding in another room, but his wife is nowhere in sight, as she and his lawyer are working to get a story straight before guests arrive. The ensuing confusion and misconceptions, along with the comedy, mount as the show progresses.
