Northgate School District will hold kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 6, at the Northgate middle/ high school, 589 Union Ave., 8:30 -10:30 a.m.and 5 -7 p.m.

Prior to registration, parents can pick up enrollment packets at Avalon Elementary, 721 California Ave., (412)-732-3300, ext. 3000; or Bellevue Elementary, 435 Lincoln Ave., (412)732-3300, ext. 4000

Jordan Tax Service will be collecting 2014 garbage payments at the Bellevue borough hall on Thursday, Feb. 27, 9 a.m. - noon.

The fee is $179.00 per dwelling unit for the year, but may be paid at a $10 discount if paid in full on or before March 5.

Residents also may pay the bill in two installments, with the first half due on or before March 5, and the second half due by July 2 at the rate of $89.50 per installment.

Payments also can be made by mail and sent directly to Jordan Tax Service, 102 Rahway Rd., McMurray, PA 15317.

Mom to Mom, a ministry of Bellevue United Presbyterian Church, 457 Lincoln Ave., is hosting a women's health care discussion on Saturday, Feb. 15, 1-3 p.m.

Area women are invited to hear Dr. Daniel Holt talk on issues in women's health, answer questions, and give guidance on how to navigate the health care system. Refreshments and some time for conversation about common concerns will also be provided.

Childcare will be available. Those bringing children should R.S.V.P. to Charissa at 412-223-7020.

The Sacred Heart Parish Children’s Activities Committee invites community members to attend the Seventh annual St. Valentines Day father and daughter dance.

The event will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 7-9 p.m., at the Smith Center.

Lea Guarino will provide DJ entertainment for the evening. There also will be soft refreshments, and a special gift for each girl attending.

Cost is $20 per father and daughter, and $5 for each additional daughter.

People who would like to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Andrew Bayne Memorial Library in Bellevue are invited to get involved.

A celebration is being planned for May, 100 years after the announcement in 1914 that two rooms of the former Amanda Bayne Balph and Jane Bayne Teece home would be opened to the public as a library.

Avalon Now will hold the fourth annual “Brighten the Season” event on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the borough building.

From noon to 4:30 p.m., there will be photo time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Families, children and pets are welcome, and should bring a camera.

There also will be vendors and crafters. amd crafts.

Residents will decorate the community tree and are invited to bring an unbreakable ornament or make one to place on the tree.

The tree will be lit at 5 p.m., followed by caroling and refreshments courtesy of Trinity Lutheran Church.

The North Suburban Chamber of Commerce will host a holiday celebration in Bellevue on Friday, Dec. 6.

Festivities will begin on the YMCA patio at 5 p.m. The Northgate elementary choirs will perform, and then the Northgate Marching Band will lead everyone to the former Central Methodist Church patio for more entertainment and refreshments starting at 6 p.m.

The community Christmas tree will be lit at 6:45 p.m., followed by the arrival of Santa Claus.

Begining at 7 p.m., individuals and groups are invited to sing their favorite carols from an “open mike.”
