The 69th annual Avonworth Community Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m.

Parade division numbers I and II will march along Center Avenue in Emsworth and continue along Church Avenue in Ben Avon. Division III emergency services will line up at the former Shop ‘n Save lot and join the parade there.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. at Lance Cpl. Kenny Field. Robert B. Jones, mayor of Ben Avon and Vietnam War veteran, will be the guest speaker.

In case of rain, services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, in Smith Center.

Ohio Township’s annual Touch-a-Truck will take place Saturday, May 16, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Ohio Township Community Park. Everyone is invited to “get behind the wheel” of various police, fire and construction vehicles.

Admission is free. Local food trucks will be there serving food.

Individuals who volunteer in the Northgate School District are invited to attend the annual volunteer recognition reception, Monday, May 11.

It will be held in the Northgate Middle/High School library, 5:15-6 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided and every volunteer recognized.

A public meeting to discuss Bellevue’s upcoming liquor license referendum will be held Thursday, May 7, at 7 p.m. in the former Central Methodist Church, between Hawley and North Sprague avenues.

Although sponsored by proponents of allowing alcohol to be sold by the glass in Bellevue, representatives of the PA Liquor Control Board are expected to be present to answer questions from residents.

The Quaker Valley Council of Governments (COG) and its member municipalities will sponsor a Recycling Day on Saturday, May 2, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Avalon Borough will host the event at the parking lot of the Avalon swimming pool on New Brighton Road across from the intersection of Frederick Street and New Brighton Road.

The North Boroughs / Sewickley Area Meals on Wheels will hold a fund-raising dinner featuring homemade lasagna on Saturday, April 18, 4-6:30 p.m.

The dinner will be held at the St. James Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 28 Pittsburgh St., Emsworth.

Dinners cost $10 each, and smaller-portion meals will be available for $6 each. Take-out meals are also available.

April 1 marks the date when parking restrictions will go back into effect in local boroughs, particularly Avalon and Bellevue. Checks signs on your street for days and times of parking restrictions.

Avalon Volunteer Fire Company will hold a fish fry each Friday in Lent, 4-8 p.m., at the fire hall, 629 New Brighton Rd., Avalon.

Eat-in dinners are $9 and include a fish sandwich, cole slaw, choice of one side and a drink.

Take-out dinners are $8. and include a fish sandwich, cole slaw and choice of one side.

Sides include French fries, macaroni and cheese, haluski and pierogies.

A $10, special, all-you-can-eat fish dinner will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, only.

Holy Family Manor will hold its second annual spaghetti dinner on Friday, Feb. 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The dinner will be held at Community at Holy Family Manor Auditorium, 301 Nazareth Way, Pittsburgh 15229.

Dinner consists of spaghetti with meat sauce or marinara sauce, salad, a roll with butter and dessert. Take out is available.

Dinners costs are: adults, $8.; senior citizens 65 or older, $6.; children ages 6-12, $6.; and children aged 5 or younger are free. Payment must be made by cash or check only.
