Allegheny County residents age 60 or older in 2018 who meet the 2018 household income eligibility requirements, are eligible to receive four $5 checks that can be used to purchase fruits and vegetables grown in Pennsylvania from a participating PA farm or a farmers market.

Husbands and wives may each receive vouchers.

Identification with proof of age and residency is required to receive vouchers.

Income must be at or below $22,459 for one person and $30,451 for two people. Income is self-declared; you do not need to show proof.

Assumption Parish will celebrate 105 years of Catholic education at Assumption School during a noon mass, Sunday, June 10.

Following the Mass, the parish will have a closing celebration with a community picnic, held in the parking lot. Additionally, there will be a final walk-though the school hallways for alumni, families, parishioners and all others are welcome.

The 72nd annual Avonworth Community Memorial Day Parade, sponsored by Avonworth Post #866, will take place Monday, May 28, beginning at at 10 a.m.

The parade route begins at the intersection of Center and Pennsylvania avenues in Emsworth, continues to Church Avenue in Ben Avon and ends at the Lance Cpl. Patrick Kenny Field on Ohio River Boulevard.

Memorial services, to honor Avonworth veterans, begin at 11 a.m.

In case of rain, services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Smith Center at Sacred Heart Church

Residents in boroughs where parking is restricted for street sweeping are reminded that the program will begin again the week of April 1.

Residents should check signs on their streets for parking restrictions. People who fail to move their vehicles can receive a ticket/fine.

Trinity Lutheran Church of Avalon and Avalon Borough are seeking crafters for the 18th annual Avalon Apple Blossom Festival, Saturday, May 12, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The event will take place outside, in front of the church and borough hall on California Avenue.

Cost is $20 per space.

All individuals and organizations are invited to participate. Crafters should bring their own table.

Live, Learn, Grow is hosting a “Downsizing” class, Monday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Center of Bellevue.

The class, taught by certified realtor Eileen Gallagher, will provide the essentials to decluttering and downsizing one’s home. Participants will gain knowledge about what to keep and what to discard, as well as tidbits on how to organize garage sales and estate sales. Cost of admission is $5.

Assumption Church in Bellevue is hosting “Super Bingo,” Sunday, Jan. 28, 2 p.m. in McGovern Hall. Doors open at 1 p.m.

Admission is $25 and includes a six-card package, one slice of pizza, one bottle of water and one cookie.

Extra packages are available to purchase.

The prize for a regular games is $75. Special games have a $150 prize, and there is a $1,000 jackpot game.
