Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, 7501 Church Ave., will host a Stephen Ministry introductory workshop on Saturday, April 16, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The half-day, three-session workshop is designed to help congregations strengthen their caring ministry through equipping lay-people as care-givers. Participants also will learn care-giving skills they can use right away.

The cost is $15 per person, or $50 for a group of four or more from the same congregation.

Sacred Heart Church, in Emsworth will hold its spring flea market on Saturday, April 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday, April 10, 9 a.m.-noon.

Prices are $12 eat-in and $9 for take-out.

The Ladies Auxiliary will hold a bake sale and Chinese auction.

The Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, 2501 Church Ave., will hold Holy Week ser-vices.

On Maundy Thursday, March 24, at 6 p.m., there will be a light dinner in the Fellowship Hall at 6:45 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by a service in the sanctuary.

A sunrise service will be held Easter Sunday, March 27, at 7 a.m., in Ben Avon Heights Park. At the church at 9:45 a.m., a continental breakfast will be served in Fellowship Hall. At 10:30 a.m., a festival worship service with communion will be held in the sanctuary.

Members of the community are invite to all of the services.

Mount Assisi Academy Preschool will hold an open house on Sunday, Feb. 14, 1-3 p.m.

Programs are offered for 3- and 4-year-olds. Morning and afternoon classes are available.

Additionally, a new program, “Almost 3,” is accepting students. “Almost 3” is designed to provide an early introduction to the school environment and learning by emphasizing both fine and gross motor skills, art, language development, math, reading readiness, as well as social skills and field trips. “Almost 3” classes will be held Mondays and Fridays, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Adults are invited to create a one-of-a-kind item, socialize and enjoy beverages (B.Y.O.B) and snacks, Thursday, Feb. 11, 7-9 p.m., at Ohio Township Community Park’s Nature Center

The cost per class is $25 for Ohio Township residents and $30 for non-residents.

Participants must be at least 21 years old. No experience is necessary. Art materials are included.

February’s project is a painted candy dish.

The Avalon Volunteer Fire Company will hold its next "Paddle Party" fund-raiser on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. at the fire hall, New Brighton Road in Avalon.

A Paddle Party combines bingo with an auction, in which people bid chips on baskets prepared by various vendors, and win if their numbers are pulled.

A "Super Bingo" to benefit Assumption School will be held in McGovern Hall, North Sprague Avenue in Bellevue, on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m.

Doors open at 1 p.m.

The $25.admission includes a six-card package with extra packages available, one slice of pizza, a bottle of water and a cookie.

Prizes are: $75 regular games, $150 specials, and a $1,000 jackpot
