Ruth “Genny” Steigerwald Ruth “Genny” Steigerwald, 93, a former resident of West View Towers, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Steigerwald; beloved mother of Debbie (Charles) Conway, Ed (Fran) Steigerwald, Rick (Charlene) Steigerwald and the late Robert L. (surviving wife Linda) Steigerwald; also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Jeffrey D. Brink Jeffrey D. Brink, of Ohio Township, died suddenly on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017. He was the father of Brittany and Logan Brink; son of James W. Brink and the late Mary T. Brink; brother of James D. Brink, Diane M. Brink and Douglas R. Brink. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jeff was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and a Pittsburgh sports fan. He is survived buy two children, Ron Augustine and his wife Tina and Lori Walters and her husband Steve; two siblings, Patricia Hubbard and Doug Augustine; six grandchildren, Shannon, Kristen, Ashley, Ronnie, Ryan, Andrew and Kira; and two great-grandchildren, Haydin and Lennox. Cynthia Vancheri Bednar Cindy died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at her home in Midlothian, Virginia. She lost her three year battle with ovarian cancer; her family was with her. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Cindy was born in New Castle, PA, to Michael and Carol Vancheri. She was a 1973 graduate of Bellview High School.

Audrey Garbe Audrey G. Garbe, 85, of Emsworth, wife of the late Henry E. Garbe Jr., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016. Mrs. Garbe was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Emsworth and a member of Eastern Star. She is survived by four children, Edward R. Garbe, Grace M. Garbe, Shirley A. Logan and her husband Ernest and Glenn J. Garbe; her sister, Virginia Connor and her husband Sonny; her granddaughter, Melissa Castner; and two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Mason Castner. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Garbe.

Robert Kiefer Robert C. Kiefer, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 in Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA. Mr. Kiefer was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the USS Hornet. He is survived by four siblings, Patricia Bachmann and her husband Jim, A.J. Kiefer Jr. and his wife Kathy, Raymond Kiefer and his wife Lucetta and Beverly Kiefer; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine J. and Margaret Hallstein Kiefer.


Mary Rieger Mary F. "Mae" Kuhn Rieger, 85, of Ross Township, formerly of Brighton Heights and wife of the late Elmer Rieger, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015. She is survived by two siblings, John Kuhn and his wife Rosemary and Dorothy Hasenbein; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Mary Kodovsky Kuhn; and her brother-in-law, Herbert Hasenbein.


James McCarthy James M. "Jimmy" McCarthy, 83, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015. Mr. McCarthy was born in Limerick, Ireland and moved to New York to work on a farm. He was a horse jockey in Ireland and England and rode a number of winners, notably in the Curragh with Martin Quirke and Tom Costelloe in Clare, and he rode the most famous Montcapitane, sire to the legendary Gold Cup winner Captain Christie in 1977. When he moved to Pittsburgh, he worked on Barberry Farms in Sewickley.


Marie Wehner Marie Marion A. Wehner, 96, of McCandless, formerly of Spring Hill and Avalon, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015. Ms. Wehner was retired from US Steel after 44 years of service. She is survived by her sister, Clara Freel; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Wehner and Robert Wehner. A funeral mass was held in St. Ambrose Church, Holy Wisdom Parish, North Side, on Monday. Arrangements were made by Sperling Funeral Home.

John Lutchko John R. Lutchko, 80, of Ross Township, husband of the late Patricia Paulson Lutchko, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015. He is survived by two daughters, Karen Martin and her husband Kevin and Carrie Anderson; his sister, Jean Brown; and a grandson, Tyler Martin. Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Mrs. Way was an Avalon High School and Burrough's Business School graduate. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church of Highland. She is survived by two children, Richard A. Way of Pittsburgh and Nancy B. Way of Harborcreek, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Martha Black; and four siblings, Meldrew Boyle, Agnes Britt, John Black and Robert Black.

Edward Skinger Edward F. (Skindzer) Skinger, 88, of Brighton Heights, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015. Mr. Skinger was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Maryann Nalitz Skinger; six children, John, Steve, Larry and his wife Judy, Mark and his wife Helen, Therese and Edziu and his wife Dianna; his sister, Frances Glova; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven siblings. Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Saturday.
