Helen Crooks Helen Reitz Crooks, 79, wife of the late William H. Crooks Sr., died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. Mrs. Crooks enjoyed cooking and making cookies. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling, bingo, trivia games and traveling.


Kenneth Todoverto Sr. Kenneth M. Todoverto Sr., 81, of Bellevue died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Todoverto; four children, Kenneth Todoverto Jr. and his wife Sandy, Janice Barry and her husband Mike, Carla Pritchard and her husband Glenn and Donna Boyer; his sister, Louise Killian; and five grandchildren, Brian Verlihay and his wife Steph, Steven Verlihay, Glenn Pritchard Jr., Becky Pritchard and Ally Boyer.


Sophia Regas Sophia Fakles Regas, 89, wife of the late John Fakles and John Regas, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011. Mrs. Regas was the owner of the River Road Inn in Avalon for 39 years. She is survived by two daughters, Theodora Fakles and Pandora Bossick and her husband Dennis; her sister-in-law, Shea Banus; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Panagula Danus; and two siblings, Demetrios Danus and Maria Giannakos.


Gladys Weinzierl Gladys B. Pigoni Weinzierl, 90, of Ohio Township, wife of the late Joseph W. Weinzierl Jr., died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011. She is survived by two sons, J. Buster Weinzierl and his wife Sally and Michael J. Weinzierl and his wife Susan; her sister, Eva Stankunas; and four grandchildren, Mary H. Rolser and her husband David, Joseph, Andrea and Melinda Weinzierl. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Philomena Pigoni; and five siblings, Joseph Pigoni, Charles Pigoni, Vi Giovenelli, Betty Andrade and Mitzi Lasp.


Dorothy Malloy Dorothy R. Gastner Malloy, 91, of Emsworth, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011. She is survived by her husband, J. Regis Malloy; and three children, Bonnie Bass and her husband James, Diane Barr and her husband James and Ronald Malloy. Services and burial were private. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Paul DeWalt Paul C. DeWalt, 61, of Avalon, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Klixbull DeWalt; three children, Zachary, Sarah and Jacob DeWalt; his mother, Inis DeWalt; his sister, Beth DeWalt; three brothers-in-law, Thomas L. Klixbull and his wife Janet, Richart J. Klixbull and his wife Susan and Robert E. Klixbull and his wife Eileen; a sister-in-law, Linda S. Sanderson and her husband Sandy; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis DeWalt; and two brothers, John and Robert DeWalt.


James R. Davis James R. Davis, 68, of McCandless, husband of the late Carol S. Davis, died Nov. 4, 2011. Mr. Davis had been the owner of Jim Davis Auto Body in Emsworth. He leaves a son, James S. Davis and his fiancé Sharon Welfer; a sister, Linda (John) Provich; a niece, Melissa (Mike) Taylor; nephews, Joseph Weiss Jr. and James (Jamie) Weiss. Friends were received Tuesday at Simons Funeral Home and a service was held Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland. Janet Sill Janet L. Sill, 73, of Ross Township, formerly of Brighton Heights, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011. Mrs. Sill was a nurse's aide at Little Sisters of the Poor for 28 years. She is survived by her husband, George J. Sill; five children, Kathy Dostlik, Michael Sill and his wife Denise, Janet J. Sill, LynnDee Henc and her husband David and Robbie L. Sill; five siblings, Lois Booth, Joyce Scherle, Raymond Reihart, David W. Reihart Jr. and Mary Bliss; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Saylor.


Alma Fleming Alma Eleanor Oestreicher Fleming, 97, of Wadsworth, OH, formerly of Kilbuck Township and wife of the late James D. Fleming, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Livingston and her husband Paul; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three nephews; and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nellie Oestreicher; and her brother, Charles Oestreicher and his wife Helene. Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side, until the time of services on Friday. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery.

Robert Schafers Robert H. Schafers, 84, of Kennedy Township, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 in Ohio Valley Hospital. Mr. Schafers was retired from Alcosan with 28 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.


Anna Marie Ayres Anna Marie Staudenmaier Ayres, wife of the late George W. Staudenmaier, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011. She is survived by four children, George W. Ayres Jr. and his wife Ruth, Mary Ann Turkovich, Margaret "Peggy" Ayres and Rose Marie Ayres; and her grandson, William Turkovich and his wife Stephanie. She was preceded in death by six brothers; and her son-in-law, John Turkovich.


Claude Phipps Claude A. Phipps, 72, of Avalon, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 in Allegheny General Hospital. Mr. Phipps was the owner of Phipps 18th Century Flowers. He fostered cats and dogs from the Humane Society and shared peanut butter sandwiches with squirrels and enjoyed feeding birds. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cardamone Phipps; his brother-in-law, Russell Cardamone of Sewickley; and his rescues, Jack, Belle, Willow and Cocoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick "Ted" and Gladys Holt Phipps.

Rev. James Forrest Rev. James A. Forrest, 87, of Avalon, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. Rev. Forrest was a member of the Anglican Church of North America. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Forrest; four children, Robert, Gillian, Jonathan and Jennifer; his sister, Nancy Forrest Burkholder; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


Elizabeth McFarlane Elizabeth A. "Betty" McFarlane, 84, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011. Mrs. McFarlane was a school crossing guard in Bellevue for many years. She is survived by her husband, Richard J. McFarlane; three children, Richard J. McFarlane Jr. and his wife Chris, Patricia Brelloch and her husband Rick and Kathy Weifenbach and her husband Lee; three granddaughters, Kelly Harshman and her husband James, Colleen McFarlane and Megan Brelloch; and two great-grandsons, Elija and Isaiah Harshman.

Helen Schmalzl Helen Herzlieb Schmalzl, 90, of Avalon, wife of the late Albert Schmalzl, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Mrs. Schmalzl was a member of the Church of the Assumption Christian Mothers and an active member of the Sewickley YMCA. She is survived by three children, Helen Schmalzl, William Schmalzl and his wife Patricia and Richard Schmalzl and his wife Mary; and six grandchildren, Greg, Max, Alex, Evelyn, Will and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Herzlieb.

He is survived by his brother, David Barshowski and his wide Orysia; a nephew, Donald; and a niece, Nancy. Nancy Moore Nancy F. Forsyth Moore, 78, of Bermuda Dunes, CA, formerly of Bellevue, died Saturday, July 23, 2011. Mrs. Moore was a 1950 graduate of Bellevue High School and a 1954 graduate of Grove City College. She worked at U.S. Steel as an executive secretary. She enjoyed books and libraries and worked as a volunteer, most recently at Palm Desert Library and McCallum Theater.


Edward Moore Edward McClelland Moore, 94, of Bellevue, husband of the late Dawn (Mary Ellen) Moore, died Thursday, July 14, 2011. He is survived by six children, Joseph Moore and his wife Joanne, Charlene Amend and her husband Dennis, Daniel Moore, Thomas Moore and his wife June, Patricia Hallam and her husband Patrick and Mary Ellen McDonough and her husband Daniel; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-lae Elvira Moore. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence E. Moore.


Dominic Angeloini Dominic A. Angeloini, 80, of the North Side, husband of the late Catherine M. Angeloini, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He is survived by three daughters, Angie and her husband Todd, Patty and her husband Brian and Toni and her husband Jack; his sister, Philomena; six grandchildren, Christina, Brandon, Nicole, Ashley, Zackery and Miranda; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and J.T.; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and his dog, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Angeloini; and two siblings, Art Angeloini and Betty McBurney.


Julia Janet McGurgan Julia Janet McGurgan of Catonsville, MD, died July 5, 2011. She was the wife of the late James H. McGurgan; She leaves four children, Joanne Edwards, Kathleen McGurgan, James McGurgan and Daniel McGurgan; a sister Dorothy Diehl; and grandchildren, Martin, Matthew, Angelee, Laura, Shaun, Justin, Megan and Lynn. William Kisling Sr. William R. Kisling Sr., 78, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, June 29 2011. Mr. Kisling was a longtime member of Northgate Church. He was an avid sportsman and outsdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Kisling; four sons, John R. Kisling and his wife Jean, Thomas W. Kisling and his wife Toni, William R. Kisling Jr. and Ty Kisling; two sisters, Irene Roof and her husband Jack and Virginia Klimko and her husband Edward; and five grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Zachary, Justin and Tyler Kisling.
