Anna Marie Ayres Anna Marie Staudenmaier Ayres, wife of the late George W. Staudenmaier, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011. She is survived by four children, George W. Ayres Jr. and his wife Ruth, Mary Ann Turkovich, Margaret "Peggy" Ayres and Rose Marie Ayres; and her grandson, William Turkovich and his wife Stephanie. She was preceded in death by six brothers; and her son-in-law, John Turkovich.


Claude Phipps Claude A. Phipps, 72, of Avalon, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 in Allegheny General Hospital. Mr. Phipps was the owner of Phipps 18th Century Flowers. He fostered cats and dogs from the Humane Society and shared peanut butter sandwiches with squirrels and enjoyed feeding birds. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cardamone Phipps; his brother-in-law, Russell Cardamone of Sewickley; and his rescues, Jack, Belle, Willow and Cocoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick "Ted" and Gladys Holt Phipps.


Rita Collins Rita S. Collins, wife of the late Michael J. Collins, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011. Mrs. Collins was a member of Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post #1365.


Rev. James Forrest Rev. James A. Forrest, 87, of Avalon, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. Rev. Forrest was a member of the Anglican Church of North America. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Forrest; four children, Robert, Gillian, Jonathan and Jennifer; his sister, Nancy Forrest Burkholder; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


Elizabeth McFarlane Elizabeth A. "Betty" McFarlane, 84, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011. Mrs. McFarlane was a school crossing guard in Bellevue for many years. She is survived by her husband, Richard J. McFarlane; three children, Richard J. McFarlane Jr. and his wife Chris, Patricia Brelloch and her husband Rick and Kathy Weifenbach and her husband Lee; three granddaughters, Kelly Harshman and her husband James, Colleen McFarlane and Megan Brelloch; and two great-grandsons, Elija and Isaiah Harshman.

Helen Schmalzl Helen Herzlieb Schmalzl, 90, of Avalon, wife of the late Albert Schmalzl, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Mrs. Schmalzl was a member of the Church of the Assumption Christian Mothers and an active member of the Sewickley YMCA. She is survived by three children, Helen Schmalzl, William Schmalzl and his wife Patricia and Richard Schmalzl and his wife Mary; and six grandchildren, Greg, Max, Alex, Evelyn, Will and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Herzlieb.


Joseph Barshowski Joseph Barshowski of Pittsburgh, husband of the late Mary Ann Barshowski, died Saturday, July 30, 2011. He is survived by his brother, David Barshowski and his wide Orysia; a nephew, Donald; and a niece, Nancy. Nancy Moore Nancy F. Forsyth Moore, 78, of Bermuda Dunes, CA, formerly of Bellevue, died Saturday, July 23, 2011. Mrs. Moore was a 1950 graduate of Bellevue High School and a 1954 graduate of Grove City College. She worked at U.S. Steel as an executive secretary. She enjoyed books and libraries and worked as a volunteer, most recently at Palm Desert Library and McCallum Theater.


Edward Moore Edward McClelland Moore, 94, of Bellevue, husband of the late Dawn (Mary Ellen) Moore, died Thursday, July 14, 2011. He is survived by six children, Joseph Moore and his wife Joanne, Charlene Amend and her husband Dennis, Daniel Moore, Thomas Moore and his wife June, Patricia Hallam and her husband Patrick and Mary Ellen McDonough and her husband Daniel; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-lae Elvira Moore. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence E. Moore.


Dominic Angeloini Dominic A. Angeloini, 80, of the North Side, husband of the late Catherine M. Angeloini, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He is survived by three daughters, Angie and her husband Todd, Patty and her husband Brian and Toni and her husband Jack; his sister, Philomena; six grandchildren, Christina, Brandon, Nicole, Ashley, Zackery and Miranda; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and J.T.; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and his dog, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Angeloini; and two siblings, Art Angeloini and Betty McBurney.

William Kisling Sr. William R. Kisling Sr., 78, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, June 29 2011. Mr. Kisling was a longtime member of Northgate Church. He was an avid sportsman and outsdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Kisling; four sons, John R. Kisling and his wife Jean, Thomas W. Kisling and his wife Toni, William R. Kisling Jr. and Ty Kisling; two sisters, Irene Roof and her husband Jack and Virginia Klimko and her husband Edward; and five grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Zachary, Justin and Tyler Kisling.


Eleanor Dvorsky Eleanor H. Herstich Dvorsky, 82, of Ross Township, wife of the late Joseph A. Dvorsky, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Mrs. Dvorsky retired as a nurse from Suburban General Hospital where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of St. Gabriel Parish and Risen Lord Church.

Mr. Mecklenburg was retired from Duquesne University where he was an associate professor of journalism. He served on Avalon Council 1976-79. He was a member of Avalon-Bellevue Kiwanis Club.


Mary DeFrank Mary G. Carcara DeFrank, 89, formerly of the North Side and wife of the late Michael J. DeFrank, died Thursday, June 9, 2011. Mrs. DeFrank had been a teacher in the Catholic schools of the North Side for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Schuchman and his wife Arlene and John Schuchman and his wife Barbara; two siblings, Sr. Myron and Carol Beck; two grandchildren, Paul Ross and Sarah Ross Schuchman; and nieces and nephews. Joan Bechtel Joan Marie Bechtel, 75, of Clarks Summit, PA, formerly of Bellevue, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, PA. Ms. Bechtel was a Bellevue High School graduate. She was a retired executive secretary of Harbison-Walker in Pittsburgh. She was an active volunteer at Meals On Wheels and at Allegheny General Hospital. She was an avid traveler.


John Vuksic John M. Vuksic, 48, formerly of Bellevue, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011. He is survived by two sisters, Maryann V. Pfund and her husband Robert and Teresa Pelle and her husband Peter; a niece, Nicole; and two nephews, Peter and John. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Sr. and Anna Rock Vuksic. Irene Hawk Irene B. Hawk, 96, of Ben Avon, wife of the late Dr. Brainard Hawk, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011. She is survived by four children, Dr. Alan Hawk and his wife Sandra, Dr. David Hawk and his wife Brenda, Linda Kluge and her husband Roger and Susan Coy; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Noah, Lisa, Ellen, Leah, David Jr. and Jessica; and three great-grandchildren, Kelly, Madeline and Paul. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Hawk.


Roy Gansauer Roy Henry Gansauer, 92, of Moon Township, husband of the late Ruth Dreibelbis Gansauer, died Friday, April 8, 2011. Mr. Gansauer was a 1936 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and a World War II, U.S. Army veteran of the 4th Armored Division stationed in Europe under Gen. George S. Patton's 3rd Army. He was retired from Gibson Electric Co. He was a 32nd degree Mason and past master of Samuel Hamilton Lodge. He was a member of Sharon Community Presbyterian Church in Moon Township.


Audrey Lomb Audrey A. Lomb died Monday, April 4, 2011. She is survived by two brothers, Edward F. Lomb and his wife Patricia and Harry Lomb and his wife Irene; and nieces and nephews.
