William R. Bender William R. Bender, 90, of Avalon, died Saturday, February 17, 2018. He was the husband of the late Rita (Thieret) Bender; father of Marilyn Bender, William K. (Anne) Bender, Christine (Henry) Stephens, Joan (Larry) Kresek, Thomas J. Bender, Nancy (Dave) Roman, Loraine (late Larry) Jeter and the late Stephanie Rose Bender; brother to Mary Bender Henning, Paul Bender, Bernard Bender and the late Kenneth Bender. William was proud of his 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.


Teresa J. (Lang) Lavery Teresa Jean (Lang) Lavery died Wednesday, February 28, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Andy. Teresa is survived by her mother, Doris; her daughter, Madeline; her husband of 28 years, Bob; her brothers, Andy (Mark), Greg, Al (Margaret), Dave, Thom (Brigette) and Jeff (Mary-Beth); sisters, Nancy, Linda, Sherri (Richard), Nett (Wayne), Carol and Kathy; 23 nieces and nephews; and by countless friends.


Frederick J. Mueller Frederick J. Mueller, 90, of Emsworth, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018. He was the husband of the late Nancy J. (Staub) Mueller; father of Karen (Paul) Getz, Eric (Cindy) Mueller, and Lisa (Joe) Libonati; grandfather of Chad (Megan) Mueller, Jonathan Mueller, Jennifer (Pierce) Robison, Nicholas Libonati, Julie (Travis) Furman, Adam Libonati, and Cory Libonati; great-grandfather of Chase Furman and Liam Robison; also survived by several other family members.


Barbara A. Lowrie Barbara A. Lowrie, 75, of Corsica, passed away Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018 at her home following a courageous fight with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born December 3, 1942 in Pittsburgh; daughter of the late Paul and Ethel Coyle Burlett.


Ronald I. Young Ronald I. Young, 87, of Zelienople, formerly of Bellevue, died Monday, December 25, 2017 after a long illness. He was the husband of Marjorie (Haas) Young; father of Douglas (Karen) Young, Lucinda Redman, Christina (Ted) Parks and Randal (Jessica) Young; brother of Donna McCartney and the late Guy, Dallas, William, Marion and Hewett; also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Ron was a Bellevue Borough policeman for 22 years and was a Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.


Elizabeth Claire Patterson Rainey Elizabeth “Betty” Claire Patterson Rainey, 98, a lifetime resident of the Emsworth area (Plumer Avenue), died December 17, 2017 in Lambertville, Michigan after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Samuel Patterson and Clara Block Patterson and sister, Georgene Patterson (Charles W.) Dickson. Mrs. Rainey was born in Pittsburgh July 4, 1919. She had moved to Michigan to be near her granddaughter and namesake, Elizabeth Eischen the past two years.


Michael J. Delfine Michael J. Delfine, 85, of Baden, formerly of Canonsburg and Bellevue, died Sunday, December 17, 2017.


Hunter Strang Hunter Strang, 18, of Ohio Township, died tragically Sunday, November 26, 2017. He was the son of Ward and Julie (Runberg) Strang; grandson of Bob and Mary Strang, Shirley Runberg, and the late Ken Runberg; nephew of Rick Runberg and his wife Michele; cousin of Gavin and Nathan Runberg, and Jessie, Isaac, and Rebekah Ellis; also survived by many loving relatives and friends. Hunter was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying numerous activities such as fishing, hunting, mudding, and quad-riding. He especially loved his dogs and his "85 Ford pickup and his Honda Fourtrax.

Killmeyer Jr. (Denise) Killmeyer, Edward Killmeyer, Susanne Killmeyer, Michael Killmeyer, and Elizabeth (Mark) Thomas, brother of Donald W. (Barbara) Killmeyer, grandfather of Kristin Killmeyer, Brandon Kehr, Eric, Alex, and Taylor Thomas, great grandfather of Brayden Kehr. Uncle to Deacon Tim (Chris) Killmeyer and Wayde Killmeyer.


Joseph A. Ninehauser Joseph A. Ninehauser, 86, of Bellevue, died Thursday, November 9, 2017. He was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Pittsburgh. He married Gloria (Owens) Ninehauser on Sept. 8, 1950. She preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2015. Joe was a veteran of the USMC. In civilian life, Joe was a general mechanic and could fix anything presented to him. Joe spent his life lending a hand to anyone in need and was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

She was the wife of the late Frank Bergman and late Walter Freeman; mother of Carol (John) Kennedy, Frank (Rose) Bergman, Richard (Debbie) Bergman, Debbie (Mike) Dunn, Jeffrey (Maria) Bergman, Mary Turnbull, Kenneth (Donna) Bergman and Curt (Amy) Bergman and the late David (surviving wife Betty Jo) Bergman; sister of Jack Batykefer, also 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

He was the son of the late Harry and Anna Mahaven; husband of Carla (Hartz) Mahaven; father of Tim (Stephanie Kulak) Mahaven, Angela (Jim) Bates and Jaclyn (Jeremy) Sweeney; grandfather of Kaitlyn Bates, Kaden Loveridge, Maddy Sweeney and Cathan Sweeney. Doug was a member of the Syria Shrine, the Mason's Avalon Lodge #657, a member of Royal Order of Scotland and the Grotto MOVPER, and was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Robert Michael Colecchia Robert M. Colecchia, 77, of Avalon, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. He was the son of the late Anthony and Columbia (Viscusi) Colecchia; brother to Tony (Chris) Colecchia and Ann Marie (Ed) Huber; devoted uncle to Dana Getz, Andrea Korade, Sarah Cardosi and Joshua Huber; great-uncle to Maia and Anna Getz, Luca and Jonah Korade, Anthony and Maria Cardosi, and Eli and Scarlett Huber.

He was the husband of the late Anna Mae (Eidenschenk) Ettore; father of Kimberly (Edward) Hock of Bellevue and Christina ( Michael) Robinson of Frederick, MD; grandfather of Eric Hock; brother of Linda Cronin of Valencia and the late Donald Ettore (surviving wife Maryanne). Steven Galetich Steve Galetich, 91, of Avalon, formerly of the North Side, died Friday, July 7, 2017. He was the husband of the late Mildred Galetich; father of Sandra Galetich, Patricia “Tish” Barley (Richard) and the late Debora Demos; preceded in death by seven siblings: Pete, George, Frank, John, Kate, Mary and Isabelle; also survived by two grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his cat Rambo and many family members and friends. Mr. Galatich was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. Services and interment will be private.

He was an avid baseball player and coach.

James Joseph Kania James Joseph Kania, 59, of Bellevue, died Thursday, June 1, 2017. He was the son of Elizabeth “Betty” (Hay) Kania and the late Joseph J. Kania; father of James Joseph Kania, Jr. and Jason Willett; brother of John Kania and JoAnn Davis; uncle of Joseph and Joshua Kania, Jesse and Jacob Davis. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycles, woodworking and NASCAR. He was retired from the US Postal Service after 20 years.
