Youth critically injured in accident

A recent Avonworth High School graduate was critically injured in a single-vehicle accident in Ben Avon during the early morning hours of July 5.

Police say that a vehicle driven by Samuel Benjamin “Ben” Winter, 17, of Ohio Township, struck a metal utility pole on Church Avenue at Dickson Avenue about 3 a.m.

In other news from Ohio Township Police, a Pittsburgh man was arrested for driving under the influence following an accident on Ohio River Boulevard in Emsworth on July 3. Charged was Donny Lorenzo Simuel, 32.

Also charged with DUI was Matthew Tyson, 27, of Pittsburgh, whose vehicle was stopped on Camp Horne Road in Ohio Township on July 6.

Ronald Siner, 35, of Bellevue, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance on Church Avenue in Ben Avon on July 4.

On July 5, Vincent Gianetti, 26, of Cranberry, was charged with possession of suspected marijuana on Lowries Run Road in Ohio Township.

Police recovered a pink and black Dino Divine bicycle at the Ben Avon Mini Mart. The owner can claim the bike at the Ohio Township Police Station.
