Joseph Barshowski
Joseph Barshowski of Pittsburgh, husband of the late Mary Ann Barshowski, died Saturday, July 30, 2011.
He is survived by his brother, David Barshowski and his wide Orysia; a nephew, Donald; and a niece, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva; and five siblings, Michael, Stephania, Alexander, Frank and John.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral service was held in St. George Ukrainian Church on Tuesday. Contributions are suggested to his church at 3445 California Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

John Murtha
John P. Murtha of the North Side died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011.
Mr. Murtha was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Grace F. Murtha; three children, J. William Murtha and his wife Alice, Mary Anne Christiansen and her husband Fritz and Joseph J. Murtha and his wife Donna, all of Pittsburgh; three stepchildren, Patty Bonant, Jacqueline Parise and her husband Stephen and Steve Bonant; his sister, Margaret Pastol and her husband Sam of Grove City, PA; 10 grandchildren, Allison, Sarah, Jackie and Emily Murtha, Michael, Rebecca and Matthew Christiansen, Megan, Jennifer and Shawn Murtha; and three step-grandchildren, Stephen, Andrea and Nicholas Parise. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole K. Murtha; his sister, Catherine Anne Murtha; and his step-son-in-law, Tom Bonant.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Risen Lord Church on Wednesday. Contributions are suggested to Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western PA or Little Sisters of the Poor.

Veronica Vattimo
Veronica E. Snyder Vattimo, formerly of Avalon and wife of the late Mike Vattimo, died Saturday, July 30, 2011.
She is survived by two children, Michael Vattimo and his wife Dolly and Genevieve Bussard; two grandchildren, Michael Vattimo II and Brian Vattimo; and two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Lauren Vattimo. She was preceded in death by six siblings, William, Edward, John and Mary Snyder, Genevieve Kovalik and Elizabeth Zombeck; and her grandson, Kirk Bussard.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Patricia Hennessey
Patricia I. Sterling Hennessey, 80, of Pittsburgh, wife of the late John J. Hennessey, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011.
She is survived by five children, Sandra L. Augenstein and Patricia L. Gralish and her husband James, all of Pittsburgh, Scott E. Marshall and his wife Peggie of Seattle,WA, Wayne E. "Gus" Marshall and his wife Cheryl and Jacqueline L. Konvalin and her husband Eric, all of Pittsburgh; her sister, Nancy Sterling; nine grandchildren, Brian, Jason and Eric Augenstein, Adam, Justin and Amanda Marshall, Matthew, Stephen and Ryan Konvalin; and two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Robert Augenstein. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lillian Sterling.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, where services were held on Monday with Rev. Richard Feagin officiating. Burial was in United Cemetery.

Walter Schick Jr.
Walter "Bud" Schick Jr. died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011.
Mr. Schick was a member of Sewickley American Legion and former chief of Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a longtime member of St. Therese Bowling League and was retired from Bell of PA and more recently, Verizon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Schick; five children, John Schick and his wife Judy of Franklin Park, Jerry Meanor and Sandy Moisey and her husband Bob, all of Sewickley, Shelley Grubbs and her husband Tim of Pittsburgh and Erin Engelmore and her husband Phil of Bellevue; three sisters, Mary Lou Abt and her husband Ken of Cranberry Township and Jackie Laird of Valencia; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. Sr. and Mary Schick; and his brother-in-law, Wink Laird.
Friends were received at Bohn-Matich Funeral Home, Ambridge, where services were held on Saturday. Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Sewickley.

Janice Strauss
Janice G. Young Fichter Strauss, 62, of Bellevue, died Saturday, July 30, 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Michael F. Young; three children, James Strauss, Wendy Strauss-Mohney and her husband T.J. And Bill Arensberg; and three grandchildren, Courtney, Reyna and Xavier.
There was no visitation. A memorial service will be held later. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made by Heard Funeral Home.

Kathryn Ries
Kathryn L. Ries, 89, of Ross Township, formerly of Bellevue, died Thursday, August 4, 2011.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Ries; three children, John R. Ries and his wife Susan, Mary S. Wiles and her husband Dennis and Scott Ries; her brother, Robert J. Roberts of Dublin, OH; her son-in-law, Scott Pavlot; seven grandchildren, Matthew Wiles and his wife Ashley, Stephen Wiles, Laura and Andy Pavlot, Annie, John and Adam Ries; six nieces and nephews, John and Marsha Thompson, Rob and Laura Roberts, Frank and Chris Westermajer and their families; and her cousin, Lucille Oellig. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Pavlot.
There was no visitation. A memorial service will be held later. Donations are suggested to a favorite charity. Arrangements were made by Schellhaas Funeral Home, West View.

Joyce Musthaler
Joyce Foster Musthaler, 81, of Ross Township, formerly of Cranberry Township and Brighton Heights and wife of the late Ralph L. Musthaler, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011.
She is survived by two children, Edwin M. Musthaler and his wife Lynne of Cranberry and Cindy Connolly and her husband Michael of Ross Township; two sisters, Geri Rupert and Sandy Gavin; five grandchildren, Megan Syska and her husband Jason, Lauren and her husband John, Michael Connolly and his wife Heather, Ralph and Edwin Musthaler; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends were received at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, Ross Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Teresa of Avila Church on Thursday. Contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Margaret LaRue
Margaret June Rullo LaRue, 84, of Derry, PA, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.
Mrs. LaRue was an active member of Pittsburgh East Community Church in Plum Borough.
She is survived by her husband, W. Gilbert LaRue; three sons, John B. Rullo Jr. and his wife Anita of Slate Lick, Richard Rullo and his wife Mary of Verona and Charles Rullo and his wife Staci of Penn Hills; two brothers, Ronald Williams and his wife Monica of Ross Township and Eugene Williams and his wife Linda of Ohio Township; seven grandchildren, Benjamin and Allan Herr, John, Jason, Justin, Hanna and Katy Rullo; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Rullo; her daughter, Donna Rullo Herr; and her brother, Charles Williams.
Friends were received at Vaia Funeral Home, Delmont, PA. Funeral services were held on Wednesday. Burial was in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

Harold Mangel
Harold L. "Crusher" Mangel, 87, of Bellevue, husband of the late Elinore Kamensky Mangel, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011.
Mr. Mangel was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne during World War II. He was a Duquesne University graduate and was a retired controller for Steel City Lumber. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post #116.
He is survived by two sons, Hal Mangel and his wife Carol and Mark Mangel; two siblings, Lois Walsh and Paul Mangel; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Natalie, Zachary, Christopher, Tyler, Jimmy, Mindy and Jessica; and three great-grandchildren, Gionni, Logan and Jameson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Malter.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Thursday. Burial was in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Donations are suggested to VA Hospital Aspinwall, 1010 Delafield Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15215.

Margaret Daley
Margaret C. Troy Daley, wife of the late Frank M. Daley, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
She is survived by six children, Patricia M. Mahofski and her husband Gene, Frank Daley and his wife Sally, Marian E. Ehrin, Margaret L. Linhart, Jean M. Handlow and Kathleen A. Banachoski and her husband Walter; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel M. Daley; and her brother, Clarence Troy.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Friday.

Ladislaus Klubert
Ladislaus (Walter) F. Klubert died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Episcopo Klubert; four children, Rosemaria Lester and her husband Gary of FL, Gary Klubert, Marcella Larkin and her husband Jim of VA and Valerie Tarasovich and her husband Darryl; his sister, Alexandra Zubko; his sister-in-law, Mary Wolf; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and John Hentosz.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Saturday.

Donna Sabram
Donna L. Veilleux Sabram of Avalon, wife of the late Daniel Sabram, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ada Jane McNeill.

Mary Semich
Mary Wos Semich, wife of the late Paul Semich, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
She is survived by four children, Robert Semich and his wife Sue Ann, Richard Semich, Lorraine King and her husband Tim and Carol DelVecchio and her husband Joe; her sister, Ann Wos; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Sara and Lance. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Semich; and four brothers, Michael, Joseph, Walter and Francis Wos.
