Virginia Ruth (Butler) Miranda
Virginia “Ginny” Ruth (Butler) Miranda, 83, of Bellevue, went home to be with Jesus and her beloved husband, Jim, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Ginny was the only child of the late James and Sophie Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, James who passed away in 2017.
She had a long and impressive career as a top-notch secretary working for a senator, a district attorney, an airline executive and retired as a public servant for Allegheny County.
Ginny and Jim were active in several churches throughout the years.
As per Ginny's wishes, there will be no viewing or service. She will be dearly missed by many friends, neighbors and family. Interment will be at Highwood Cemetery.

Marjorie Black Sloan
Marjorie Black Sloan, 96, formerly of Bellevue and more recently of Fort Collins, Colorado, died March 31, 2018.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Sloan, also of Bellevue and her grandson Jeffrey Remnant.
She was a loving wife and mother. Her joy, contentment, and encouragement will be sweetly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jean Ann Black of Logan, OH; her five children, Virginia Sloan (Gainesville, FL), Barbara Sloan (Washington, DC), Bob Sloan (Waukee, IA), Betsy Remnant (Boulder, CO), and Dee Stegeman (Fort Collins, CO, and Papua New Guinea); their spouses Louis, Ann, Jim, and Ray; nine grandchildren and their spouses; as well as great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marjorie graduated from Bellevue High School and then attended Bethany College and the University of Pittsburgh. She was an active member of Fremont Avenue UP Church in Bellevue (now, New Life Community Church) where she taught Sunday School and participated in several other organizations. She was also active in PTA and other school-related organizations, Meals on Wheels, Literary Club, two bridge clubs, and enjoyed sailing as well as travel. After her children had grown, she worked as secretary for the Bellevue Baptist Church and Judge of Elections.
Marjorie’s family will travel to Pittsburgh to honor her and celebrate her life. Friends will be received on Friday, August 24, 2018, from 6-8 p.m., at Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, 1014 California Ave., Avalon (412)766-5600, where funeral service will be held Saturday, August 25, 10 a.m.
Although Marjorie loved flowers, she would have been pleased that, instead, memorial gifts be sent to Alzheimer’s Association (NPH Research), 225 North Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL, 60601 www.alz.org, or New Life Community Church, 45 North Fremont Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15202.

Margaret “Peggy” A. Bolin
Margaret “Peggy” A. Bolin, 77, of Avalon, died Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Margaret was born November 24, 1940, in Pittsburgh.
She was the mother of Sandy Seifer (George Malsch), Gerald "Jerry" (Chris) Bolin, Jr., and the late William Lee Bolin; grandmother of Daniel Seifer, Jason Bolin, Jamie Bolin, Ruthann Malsch and Garrett Malsch; and a great-grandmother to seven. She also is survived by her brother, Joey Sepac; sisters, Susan Luff (Paul) and Carol Javornick (Roger).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. "Jerry" Bolin, Sr. and sister, Ruth Douglas.

Betty Ann (Altvater) Ruch
Betty Ann (Altvater) Ruch, 71, of Ben Avon, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
She was the mother of Douglas (Luciann) McIntyre and Michelle (Michael) Yeiser; grandmother of Derek and Shawn McIntyre and Isabelle and Ava Yeiser; sister of Ruth (David) Downing and the late John "Buck" (surviving spouse Margaret) Altvater; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

Dr. Marian D. Sutter
Marian D. Sutter of Hummelstown, PA, formerly of Emsworth, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, one day before her 75th birthday.
Marian was born July 26, 1943 in Pittsburgh, to the late William G. and Margaret E. (McNally) Sutter. Marian is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Paul E. and Lou Ann Sutter of Pittsburgh, her cherished nieces and nephews, Eden L. Reynolds (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL, William G. Sutter, III (Marci) of Greensburg, PA, Joshua P. Sutter (Liz) of Aurora, OH, Megan M. Straub (Geoff) of Pittsburgh, Jennifer E. Beck (Jason) of Pittsburgh, and Edward J. Sutter, Jr. (Elise) of South Park Township, PA, her 15 great nieces and nephews, cousins, her many friends and colleagues.
Marian was preceded in death by her brothers William G. Sutter, Jr. (surviving spouse Nancy Snyder) and Edward J. Sutter (surviving Joan Anderson).
Marian received her B.S. from Slippery Rock University in 1965, her M.Ed. at East Stroudsburg University in 1971 and her PhD in Health Education from Penn State in 1991. She began her career in health education at Churchill Valley School District in 1965. She retired in 2007 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education as chief of the Division of Professional Development and Planning. She also was the Pennsylvania State Director of the Governor's Schools of Education and the Governor's Institutes & Academics for Education for many years.
Marian was a member of many professional organizations and received numerous awards. She enjoyed teaching, music and golf. She especially enjoyed traveling to the beach and visiting family in Ireland. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.
Marian was a very active member of the Hummelstown Area Historical Society. She was very involved with the Hummelstown Bicenquinquagenary (250th) Commemorative Book Committee and recently the restoring of the Hummelstown Cemetery.
A memorial service celebrating Marian's Life will be held at a date to be announced at the Hummelstown Area Historical Society, 32 W. Main St., Hummelstown, PA 17036. Memorial donations are suggested to the Hummelstown Area Historical Society.
