Irene Bickel
Irene Bickel 93, of Bellevue, wife of the late Bill Bickel, died Monday, July 27, 2009 in Vincentian Regency Nursing Home.
Mrs. Bickel worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. She enjoyed the musical community, bowling, bingo, crossword puzzles, reading and needlepoint.
She is survived by three children, Ron Bickel and his wife Grace, Karen Bryant and Barbara Goldberg and her husband Harlan; nine grandchildren, Sahara DerKourkian and her husband Nazareth, Douglas and Donald Bickel and his wife Monica, Aaron Kierbel, Elise Weber and her husband Matt, Brianna and David Goldberg, Connie Stover and her husband David and Heather Govenor; four great-grandchildren, Erica Bickel, Nathaniel and Abigail Stover and Michael Wojdak; her nephew, Larry Colin and his wife Barbara; her niece, Frances Ritter and her husband Mike; and two grandnieces, Debbie and Diane. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sylvia Colin; and her sister, Mary Grant.
Friends were received at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Ross Township, until the time of services on Friday. Burial was in Interment New Light Cemetery, Millvale.

Beatrice Mouganis
Beatrice I. Mouganis of Sewickley, wife of the late John N. Mouganis, died Monday, July 27, 2009.
Mrs. Mouganis was a graduate of Thiel College and studied theater at Carnegie Tech, now CMU. She was active in the Pittsburgh area supporting the arts, serving as the local Republican committee woman, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, teaching Sunday school, and was one of the founding families of Christ Church at Grove Farm.
She is survived by three children, John C. Mouganis and his wife Rebecca, Nancy Wehrheim and Janet Helms and her husband Worth; her sister, Margaret Overholt and her husband Michael; and eight grandchildren, Stephanie and James J. Wehrheim, Emanuel, Katherine, Nicholas, Anna and Leah Mouganis and Trey Helms.
Friends were received at Simons Funeral Home, North Hills. Funeral services were held in Christ Church at Grove Farm on Saturday. Contributions are suggested to Teen Mania, P.O. Box 2000, Garden Valley, TX 75771.

Joseph Stehle
Joseph F. Stehle, 80, of Brighton Heights, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Maniet Stehle; three children, Christine Stehle and Richard Stehle and his wife Elizabeth, all of Ross Township and James Stehle and his wife Rebecca of Brighton Heights; three grandchildren, April Holko and her husband Kevin, Nicholas and his fiancee Tiffany, and Ethan; and three great-grandsons, Kevin Patrick and twins, Sean and Ryan.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Monday. Burial was in Christ Our Redeemer Mausoleum.

George Donnelly Jr.
George H. Donnelly Jr., 81, of Blackville, SC, formerly of Ross Township and Bellevue, died Saturday, July 11, 2009.
Mr. Donnelly was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had been a member of the Catholic War Veterans and an usher at the Church of the Assumption.
He is survived by his wife, Tonia Wysko Donnelly; his son, Donald E. Donnelly and his wife Lynnette of Erie, PA; four siblings, Richard Donnelly and his wife Janet, David Donnelly, Marie Donnelly and Mildred Plaskett and her husband Michael; three grandchildren, George Roger, Caitlin and Lena; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Rev. George R. Donnelly and his wife Debbie; and three siblings, Marion Rudisin, Robert and Raymond Donnelly.
There was no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Joseph Jones
Joseph E. Jones of Moon Township, husband of the late Betty H. Jones, died Sunday, July 19, 2009.
He is survived by three children, Barbara Ann Achtzehn and Kenneth J. Jones, both of Arizona, and Terry Lee Jones of Beaver Falls; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Frew
Mary “Betty” Lavelle Frew, 80, of Kilbuck Township, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, James G. Frew; three sons, James Frew and his wife Michelle, Thomas Frew and Timothy Frew and his wife Maureen; five grandchildren, Adam Frew, Rena Buckley and her husband Michael, Caitlin, Tyler and Molly Frew; and a great-grandson, Jackson Frew.
Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Sacred Heart Church in Emsworth on Friday. Burial was in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Avonworth Elementary Library, 1320 Roosevelt Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Doris Perkins
Doris M. Perkins, 82, of Ben Avon, wife of the late Thomas W. Perkins Sr., died Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
Mrs. Perkins was the Ben Avon “Pen Pal Lady” who wrote to 400 women around the world who were born in 1927. She had been featured in an article by columnist Ruth Heimbucher in the Pittsburgh Press newspaper.
She is survived by her son, Thomas W. Perkins Jr.; her brother, Frank Zimmerman; her sister-in-law, Ella Zimmerman; and two nieces, Janice Llewellen and Sandra Gartrell. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Melvin and Lyle Zimmerman.
Services and burial were private. Arrangements were made by Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Blawnox.

Ellen Mitchell
Ellen Creese Mitchell of Avalon, wife of the late James R. Mitchell, died Saturday, July 25, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen J. Tinyo of Shaler Township; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James R. Mitchell Jr.; and four siblings, John and Chalmers Creese, Anne Hunter and Edna Boyer.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Wednesday.
