Steven Galetich
Steve Galetich, 91, of Avalon, formerly of the North Side, died Friday, July 7, 2017.
He was the husband of the late Mildred Galetich; father of Sandra Galetich, Patricia “Tish” Barley (Richard) and the late Debora Demos; preceded in death by seven siblings: Pete, George, Frank, John, Kate, Mary and Isabelle; also survived by two grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his cat Rambo and many family members and friends.
Mr. Galatich was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.
Services and interment will be private.

Dr. W. Wayne Brandon
Dr. W. Wayne Brandon, 92, of Avalon, died Friday, July 7, 2017 on his own terms with his family nearby.
He was the husband of 67 years to Lauretta Brandon; father of Darryl (Heidi) Brandon, Dawn (Charles) Shaw, and the late David (surviving spouse Gina) Brandon; "Pap Pap" of Jake, Dylan, Matthew, Samantha, Nathan, and Rachel.
Wayne proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a combat infantry sergeant in Europe and the Philippines.
He was graduated from Slippery Rock University and the University of Pittsburgh, where he obtained his Doctorate degree in Education and was a Phi Beta Kappa member.
Wayne worked as a teacher, principal, and superintendent at the Avalon High School for 21 years, and then he worked at Allegheny Intermediate Unit for 12 years as the Associate Executive Director until his retirement in 1985.
He was a master Mason of the North Hills Masonic Lodge #716 Syria Shrine, and sang with the Chanters.

Gerald Lee Bolin, Sr.
Gerald Lee Bolin, Sr., 77, of the North Side, died Friday, July 7, 2017.
Jerry was the husband of 59 years to Margaret "Peggy" Bolin; father of Gerald "Jerry" Bolin, Jr. (Chris), Sandy Seifer (George Malsch), and the late William Lee Bolin; Pap of Daniel Seifer, Jason Bolin, Jamie Bolin, Ruthann Malsch and Garrett Malsch; great-Pap of seven great-grandchildren; brother of Mary Huwe, Judith Ames and the late Joseph and Linda Bolin.
Jerry was a longtime member of the Roofers Union Local #37.
Private family burial with Coast Guard military honors will be held at a later date.

Evelyn S. (Visokey) Irvin
Evelyn S. (Visokey) Irvin, 92, of Emsworth, died Friday, July 7, 2017.
She was the wife of the late Franklin M. Irvin; mother of Patricia Lansberry, Jeffrey F. Irvin, Linda (Dr. Jonathan T.) Stewart, Joyce (Kenneth C.) Wills and Jerald E. Irvin; sister of Marlene Unrath and the late Arnold, Richard and Robert Visokey; sister-in-law of Margaret Visokey; grandmother of Jacob Stewart, Aaron (Arielle Collier) Stewart and Madison Irvin.
Evelyn had been an active member of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and the Casino.
Memorial donations are suggested to Celtic Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

James F. McCartan, Jr.
James F. McCartan, Jr., 56, died Thursday, July 6, after an eight month battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Eulalia "Laly;" father of James F. (Hannah) McCartan III and Elena (Justin) McCartan; “Papa” to James F. McCartan IV and very proud owner of Sparky, his three year old Yorkie-Poo. He was the son of Judith L. McCartan (James) Sutton and the late James F. McCartan, Sr.; brother to Cindy (Rich Smith) McCartan and Thomas J. (Donna) McCartan; uncle to many nephews and nieces, many cousins, and beloved nephew to many aunts and uncles.
James was a proud member of Bellevue Christian Church.
