Ruth Andlor

Ruth Andlor, 89, of Bellevue, wife of the late Joseph Andlor Jr., died Friday, May 29, 2009.

Mrs. Andlor had been a volunteer at North Suburban Adult Services and Lutheran Services Society of Bellevue. She was a member of ISDA Amity Lodge #45 and the Church of the Assumption.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Marx and her husband James of North Canton, OH; five siblings, Irene Grundy, Dorothy Laur, Marie Doyle, Margaret Porter and David Quiring; three grandchildren, Heather, Matthew and Justin Marx; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Richard and George Quiring; and a longtime friend, Tony Colecchia Sr.

Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday.

Richard Stevens

Richard Stevens, 50, formerly of Bellevue, died Friday, May 29, 2009.

Mr. Stevens was an avid biker and enjoyed riding his Harley Sportster.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Stevens; his mother, Marjorie Stevens; two siblings, Mary June Brozovich and Michael Stevens; and three grandchildren, Victoria, Dominick and Madison. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Stevens.

Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday. Burial was private.

Dorothy Boyd

Dorothy C. Sammel Boyd, 83, of Emsworth, died Saturday, May 30, 2009.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel A. Boyd; four children, William Boyd and his wife Debbie, Robert Boyd and his wife Jackie, John C. Boyd and his wife Kathy and Donna Gucek and her husband Brian; two sisters, Ruth McGrath and Cecilia Maers; seven grandchildren, Melinda Petrina and her husband William, Bria Tiuseco and her husband Nate, William, Robert and Thomas Boyd, Brian and Steven Bucek; and two great-grandchildren, Katie Petrina and Jagger Tiuseco. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Edward, John and Robert Sammel.

Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Sacred Heart Church, Emsworth, on Tuesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Western PA Humane Society, 1101 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15223.

Sarah Rice

Sarah L. “Sadie” Rice, 77, of Avalon, died Friday, May 29, 2009.

Ms. Rice was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. She worked at USSteel as an executive secretary.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Haas; three nieces, Deborah Schulties, Karen Parson and Kathleen Haas; her nephew, Gregg Haas; and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Memorial services were held in the chapel of Simons Funeral Home, North Hills, on Friday. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

William Battaglia

William Battaglia, formerly of Bellevue, died Mya 23, 2009.

Mr. Battaglia was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII. He leaves his wife, Jennie; brother, Michael Vancheri; and sister, Rose Albo. He was preceded in death by his father, Lottie Vancheri; his son, Billy Battaglia; and brother, James Vancheri.

Burial was private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Teresa Corr

Teresa L. Falcione Corr, 94, wife of the late Patrick A. Corr, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in Little Sisters of the Poor, Brighton Heights.

She is survived by two daughters, Sr. Mary Ann Corr, SC, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill, Greensburg, PA and Patricia M. Corr of Silver Springs, MD. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas Falgione; and two sisters, Florence Sehringer and Rita Chisholm.

Friends were received at Little Sisters of the Poor, where a funeral liturgy was held on Monday in the chapel. Donations are suggested to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Peter Dobrostan

Peter Dobrostan, 89, of the North Side, husband of the late Michalina Dobrostan and Marie Dzugan Dobrostan, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Mr. Dobrostan worked at Braun Bakery for 25 years. He was a longtime member of St. George Ukrainian Church.

He is survived by three grandchildren, Kathleen Galbreath and her husband Jeffrey, Michele Trush and Thomas Jones; and six great-grandchildren, Stephen, Katerina, Jason, Emily, Sara and Peter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Dobrostan Jones.

Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral service was held in St. George Ukrainian Church on Friday.

James Ceresa

James Joseph Ceresa, 64, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Pittsburgh and husband of the late Alice Herbst Ceresa, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 in the VA Hospital, Oakland.

Mr. Ceresa was retired from Kodak since 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served four tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was awarded many medals for his heroism.

He is survived by eight siblings, Timothy, Patrick and Charles Allen, Lawrence Ceresa, Maureen Givens and her husband George, Elizabeth Stebbins and her husband Raymond and JoAnne Hannes; his goddaughter, Amanda Stebbins Killen; best friend, George Hall of Rochester, NY; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian O'Neill Allen.

There was no visitation, and burial was private in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Margaret Mittereder

Margaret K. Unger Mittereder, 82, of St. Barnabas Retirement Village, formerly of Brighton Heights and wife of the late Francis “Jiggs” Mittereder, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Mrs. Mittereder was a longtime member of the Royal Outing Club and Secret Pals.

She is survived by six children, Judy Wipkowski and her husband Ray of Ross Township, Gregory Mittereder of Pittsburgh, Mary Donnelly and her husband Joe of Ross Township., Patti Micklos and her husband Bernie of Erie, PA, Jack Mitterender and his wife Lori of West View and Joe Mittereder and his wife Cindy of McCandless Township.; two siblings, Anne Farrell and Frank Unger and his wife Eileen; 14 grandchildren, Amy Patsilevas and her husband Bob, David Wipkowski, Greta Mittereder, Michael, Christine, Matthew and Jennifer Donnelly, Julieann and Christopher Micklos, Nicholas, Jeffery, Ashley, Patrick and Alyssa Mittereder; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Nathan Patsilevas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Unger.

Helen Wasko

Helen M. Wasko, 80, of the North Side, wife of the late Edward F. Wasko, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

She is survived by six children, Michelle Peasner, Veronica Giesy, Cynthia Fox, Annette Kumpfmiller and her husband Joe, Edward G. Wasko and Richard A. Wasko and his wife Yvonne; two brothers, James and Harry McKinley; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Buzzy McKinley and Marie Tass.

Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A blessing and committal service was held in the chapel of St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shaler Township, on Saturday.

Stephanie Cosentino

Stephanie J. Cosentino of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Township, formerly of Ben Avon Heights and wife of the late Dr. Michael J. Cosentino, died Saturday, May 30, 2009.

She is survived by two children, M. James Cosentino of Lancaster, PA and Stephanie M. Cosentino of Las Vegas, NV; three siblings, Stella Hickler of Brighton Heights, Adam Plizga and his wife Erica of Avalon, and Theodore Plizga of Brighton Heights.

Helen Konvalinka

Helen Kondrich Konvalinka, 84, of Turtle Creek, wife of the late James W. Konvalinka, died Friday, May 29, 2009.

Mrs. Konvalinka was an avid crafter, well-known at Western Pennsylvania craft shows. She enjoyed decorating dolls with her handcrafted clothing and donating them to Children's Hospital patients.

She is survived by her son, James W. Kovalinka of Ohio Township; her brother, Ted Kondrich and his wife Marcia of Plum; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Louis Miller

Louis Miller, 82, died Saturday, May 30, 2009.

Mr. Miller was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Solomon. He was a retired postal employee. He enjoyed the Pittsburgh sports teams, animals and baking.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Matvey Miller; five children, Josette Miller and her husband Michael Steele, Larry Miller and his wife Debbie, Michele Wagner, Anita Napierkowski and her husband Ken and Tricia Gaughnevar and her husband Marshall; nine grandchildren, J.R., Dylan, Lou, Dustin, Max, McCall, Parker, Sydney and Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Melanie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Elizabeth Haas Miller; and eight siblings, Christie, Anna, Estelle, Catherine, Harvey, Nicholas, Albert and Lydia.

Gertrude Lutz

Gertrude Brunner Lutz, 90, of Sewickley, wife of the late Theodore A. Lutz, died Friday, May 29, 2009.

She is survived by her son, Ted Lutz and his wife Lil; two siblings, Joseph Brunner and Joana Broerman; two grandchildren, Lisa Bossong and her husband Chuck and Kelly Hollaway and her husband Randy; and three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Brooke and Katie. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Dorothy Wintermantle, Ruth Wharrey and Earl Brunner.

Ruth Miller

Ruth L. Miller of Brighton Heights died Monday, June 1, 2009.

Ms. Miller worked for PJAX Transportation as a data processor until her retirement. She became a part-time secretary at Brighton-McClure Presbyterian Church where she was a member.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Hutchinson; her brother, Raymond Miller and his wife Doris; her granddaughter, Alyssa Hutchinson; two nieces, Mary Samuelson and her husband Kenneth and Lori Prins and her husband Nicholas; and a grandniece, Kristina Samuelson. She was preceded in death by her son, David Mawhinney; and her parents, Walter R. and Louise Schmidt Miller.

Gilda Valeriano

Gilda Valeriano, wife of the late Samuel R. Valeriano, died Monday, June 1, 2009.

She is survived by three sons, Robert and his wife Wendy, Mark and his wife Kim and Alan Valeriano and his wife Kim; two siblings, Dolores Ewing and Raymond DiLallo; and six grandchildren.

Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Thursday.

Anna Mae Wahlen

Anna Mae Wahlen, wife of the late Kenneth B. Wahlen, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009.

She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Tobias and her husband Chuck; three grandchildren, Kristy Kitchener and her husband Lee, Kenneth Wahlen and his wife Debbie and Jennifer Kennedy and her husband Kris; and four great-grandchildren, Meghan and Ryan Wahlen and Makenna and Jacob Kennedy.
