Elizabeth P. Rainey
A memorial service for Elizabeth P. Rainey (formerly of Plumer Avenue for over 70 years), who died December 17, 2017, will be held Wednesday, June 27. 2 p.m. at Emsworth United Presbyterian Church, 73 Hiland Ave., Emsworth 15202.
Friends and neighbors are invited to bring their memories to share with the family.

Caroline “Cookie” Uzyak
Caroline “Cookie” Uzyak, of Pittsburgh, died Thursday, June 14, 2018.
She was the mother of six children: Rosalie Tokich (late Gary), Robin Pflasterer (Thomas), George Uzyak (Andrea), Carol Olive (Gary Perrotte), Michael Uzyak (Astrid) and the late Jacquelyn Mager.
She was the sister of Rosella and Josephine Catania; preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters; grandmother of Matthew, Benjamin and Jacob Tokich, Conrad Pflasterer, Victoria and Alexander Olive, Kai and Heath Arroyo; great grandmother of August Tokich;
Caroline “Cookie” was a school lunch aide at Rogers Elementary School then was employed by Penn State with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Program as a nutrition advisor and retired in 2004 after more than 27 years of service with Penn State Cooperative Extension.

Norma May (Rent) Smak
Norma May (Rent) Smak, 88, of Tualatin, OR, formerly of Munhall and Avalon, died Sunday, June 10, 2018.
She was the daughter of the late Helen Bado Rent Fedor. Norma was the wife of the late Frank J. Smak. ; mother of Barbara (Timothy) Rawa of Peters Township and Nancy Smak (James Rice) of Tualatin, OR; grandmother of Kiara (Shane) Nappenbach of North Strabane Township and grandmother of Marcus Rice of Phoenix, AZ.

Roderick Wheeler Scott, Jr.
Roderick “Rod or Roddy” Wheeler Scott, Jr., 59, of Monroeville, PA and Jupiter, FL, died Saturday, June 16, 2018.
Rod attended primary and middle school in Avalon before graduating from Northgate High School in 1978. In high school, Rod ran track, played football, and excelled in basketball. He lead the Northgate Flames to a WPIAL Championship Title his senior year. Rod then attended and graduated from Duquesne University in 1983 on a full athletic scholarship and played basketball while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
In February 2016, Rod was recognized as a 2015 Hall of Fame Legend by the Pittsburgh Basketball Club. His undeniable gift of gab and pleasantly witty charm set him up for numerous years in various sales positions throughout the city of Pittsburgh. Starting off as a proud Encyclopedia salesman straight out of college to landing his dream job as a top notch pharmaceutical sales representative, Rod’s climb to the top in the work force included many stops: Bell Atlantic, PNC Bank, Pittsburgh Brewing Company, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Rod will be remembered by everyone including his longtime friends, coaches, coworkers, former players, and of course, his many golf buddies.
He is survived by an entire family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was the son of Gale Edmunds Scott and the late Roderick Wheeler Scott, Sr.; brother of Audrey R. Scott and Eric Keith Scott. Father father of Shayla Nicole Scott and Tyler Bruce Scott. Grandfather of Maverick Blake Laboy. Fiance of Janice Bonneville. Rod is also survived by the mother of his children Jennifer Bruce Scott and his nieces Chelsea Bruce-McCrommon, Carmen Bruce, and Courteney Bruce.

Janet L. Walker, 81, of Ross Township, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
She was the mother of Craig (Mindy) Morrow, Debbie Baranowski, Nancy (Barry) Clifford, Sharon Morrow, stepson Gary (Catherine) Walker; grandmother of David, Meghan, Bradley, Ryan, Lea, Shawn, Chien, Wesley, Joseph, Melissa, Joseph, Mason; great- grandmother to Patrick, Jack, Logan, Connor, Ethan Also survived by sisters Joan Smith and Jayne Fox; cousins Paul (Melinda) Shannon, Karen Wyerman, Suzanne Shingledecker, Cathe Serbin.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth D. and Lillian N. (Shettle) Montgomery; husband Arthur B. Walker; grandson Steven Baranowski; and son-in-law Joseph Baranowski.
