Helen Rosenberger
Helen C. Rosenberger, 90, of Bellevue, formerly of Avalon, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Seethaler; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Constantine and Walburga Rauwolf Rosenberger; and her sister, Marie Savage.
Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Saturday. Memorial contributions are suggested to her church at 45 N. Sprague Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202.

Barbara Schmitt
Barbara May Schmitt, 92, of Bellevue, wife of the late Edgar Edward Schmitt, died Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Mrs. Schmitt was retired from the PA Athletic Association, Local #57, where she had been a waitress.
She is survived by her son, Danny Schmitt; three grandchildren, Richard Shelton, Pamela McBurney and her husband Gary and Patricia Johnston; six great-grandchildren, Sara and Shae Shelton, Gary McBurney Jr. and his wife Michelle, Melissa McBurney, Julia and Nicholas Shelton; and a great-great-grandson, Corvin McBurney.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon. A graveside service was held in Allegheny County Memorial Park.

Barbara Kuhn
Barbara A. Reed Kuhn, 80, of Avalon died Saturday, June 16, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Dale K. Kuhn; two children, Carol Mathis and her husband Fred and Keith Kuhn and his wife Patti; her sister, Carolynn Pfromer; six grandchildren, Abbie, Brian, Christy, Ben, Josh and Lisa Joy; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Antonio.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon. Funeral services were held in Bellevue Christian Church on Tuesday. Burial was in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Donations are suggested to her church at 680 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202.

Joseph Start
Joseph J. Start, 91, of Sewickley, died Saturday, June 16, 2012.
Mr. Start had been the Ohio Township manager for 10 years. He had served on security details for five U.S. presidents. He had been in law enforcement serving in homicide investigation and litigation. He was a longtime member of Cochran Hose Company.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Start; two sons, Dr. Jay Start and his wife Carol and Dr. Jefrey Start and his wife Jayne; and 10 grandchildren, Caitlin Start, Anthony Aiello, Carrie and Zach Start, Bob and Sam Knorr, Joe, Julie, Dan and Andy Start. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rose Ann Conners Start.
Friends were received at Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Sewickley, where services were held on Tuesday. Burial was in St. James Cemetery. Thomas Schroeder
Thomas A. Schroeder, 80, of Emsworth, died Saturday, June 16, 2012.
Mr. Schroeder was a 1950 graduate of Avalon High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Westinghouse Corp., Nuclear Division. He was a member of the North Boroughs High Schools Olde Tymers Club.
He is survived by his wife, Klara Liegsalz Schroeder; 14 nieces and nephews; and 31 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert F. and Natalia Yeager Schroeder; and seven siblings, Clara Schroeder Antes, Emma Schroeder Bock, Wilhelmina Schroeder Voelkl, Albert Schroeder, Henry Schroeder, Herman Schroeder and Natalia Schroeder Zeyfang.
Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon. Services and burial were private.

Christel Van Maurik
Christel Burkhardt Van Maurik died Monday, June 18, 2012.
Mrs. Van Maurik was a member of Teutonia Mannerchor, where she served at its newsletter editor. She was chairperson of the German Nationality Room at the University of Pittsburgh.
She is survived by her husband, Cornelius G. Van Maurik; six children, Cornelia Zettle and her husband Ted of West View, Joanne Bly and her husband Richard of Kane, PA, Peter Van Maurik and his wife Karen of Ross Township, Bruce Van Maurik and his wife Kris of Steamboat Springs, CO, Heidi Parsons and her husband Guy of Fairfax, VA and Julie Swan and her husband David of Vienna, VA; her sister, Helga Pabst of Wiehe, Germany; her sister-in-law, Lynn (Mae) Van Maurik; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ursula Herbst, Giesela Pontani and Johanna Burkhardt.

Rachel Fischer
Rachel B. "Rae" Fischer, 83, of Avalon, wife of the late Fred D. Fischer, died Monday, June 18, 2012.
Mrs. Fischer was a longtime volunteer at the Avalon Public Library. She was retired from Penn Central Railroad, Coal Division. She was an active member of Greenstone United Methodist Church in Avalon.
She is survived by two children, Holly Rae Berkstresser and her husband David and Fred J. Fischer; and her granddaughter, Lindsey Rae Fischer.

Vincent Parey
Vincent Paul Parey, formerly of Bellevue and husband of the late Elizabeth "Liz" Parey, died Thursday, June 14, 2012.
He is survived by his son, James "Jimmy" Parey; three sisters, Rita Lepore, Marylou Stefanko and her husband Robert and Judith Collins and her husband George; two grandchildren, Rebecca Elizabeth Parey and her mother, Luanne Stanik Parey, James Michael Parey and his mother, Tammy Croftcheck Parey; his sister-in-law, Audrey Parey; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ann Gianfrancesco Parey; four siblings, Robert Parey, Bernice Rabatin, Corrine Rosensteel and her husband Edward and Dolores Parey; brother-in-law of Robert Lepore, Andrew Rabatin.

Gay Ann Brocke
Gay Ann Brocke, 77, of Erie, PA, died Monday, June 11, 2012 in Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse.
She is survived by her sister, Rita Brocke, RSM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard J. Sr. and Mary Jennings Brocke; and four siblings, Junior, John V., Marie Brocke Biggs and Janet.
Friends were received at the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse, Erie, on Friday and the Church of the Assumption in Bellevue until the time of a funeral mass on Saturday. Burial was in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to House of Mercy, 2005 Woodlawn Ave., Erie, PA 16510. Arrangements were made by Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Erie.

Edward Moore
Edward D. Moore died Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Koerbel Moore; five children, Marie Pallan and her husband Art, Colleen Parker, Heather Shoup and her husband Jeff, Bonnie Moore and Edward Moore and his wife Bete; two stepchildren, Jeff Preininger and his wife Lisa and Louayne Winslow and her husband Greg; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Schmitzer Moore; and two siblings, Thurl Moore and Marion Dittmar.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. Funeral services were held in Brighton Heights Lutheran Church on Saturday.

Joseph Hatala
Joseph Hatala of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Pittsburgh and husband of the late Pauline Hatala, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
He is survived by four children, Joseph B. Hatala and his wife Judy, Robert P. Hatala, Mary Ann Hussar and her husband Thomas Sr. and Thomas M. Hatala; his sister-in-law, Martha Hatala; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Rose Elenice, Anna Saleik and Nicholas Hatala.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Tuesday. Burial was in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Julia Bushick
Julia Moschak Bushick, wife of the late Francis Bushick, died Friday, June 15, 2012.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Seymour and Matilda Panizzi; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Tekla Moschak.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral service was held in St. George Ukrainian Church in Brighton Heights on Wednesday.
