Betty Hunt
Betty E. Dobson Hunt, 90, of Perrysville, formerly of Avalon and wife of the late Ralph M. Hunt, died Sunday, June 13, 2010.
Mrs. Hunt attended Avalon High School and Indiana University of PA. She majored in art and taught in the Avonworth School District and at Brightwood Heights Academy. She painted scenery and sets for the Air Force base in Amarilla, TX and the Francis Wilson Playhouse in Clearwater, FL. She did fund-raising and was a member of the corporate board that founded Passavant Hospital. She also worked at the Northland Public Library. She was a judge of elections in the North Hills for 27 years, worthy matron in Eastern Star Chapter #526, junior regent and member of the Academy of Friendship at the Women of the Moose in Pittsburgh and Palm Harbor, FL. She was active in the Music Association and PTZ of North Hills High School, the choirs of Epiphany Episcopal Church, Bellevue Christ Episcopal Church, North Hills and United Methodist Church in Clearwater. She also was active in the Library of Dunedin, was AARP local president and sang at the Francis Wilson Playhouse and the Dunedin Chorus, "Little Rascals" orchestra and the Richie Theatre.
She is survived by three children, James Hunt and his wife Sally, Joan Hunt Frankel and her husband Frederick Frankel and Robert Hunt; four grandchildren, Mark Frankel and his wife Carla, Sara Frankel Chiarilli and her husband Greg, Stephanie Hunt and Amy Hunt; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Frankel, Aden Chiarilli, Abigail Frankel and Scarlett Frankel; her second husband Robert Glascock; and her nephew, Tom Fegley and his wife Sally. She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Margaret F. Vogt Dobson.
Friends were received at Christ Episcopal Church until the time of a memorial service on Friday. Contributions are suggested to Christ Episcopal Church Music Fund, 5910 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Arrangements were made by H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, North Hills.
