M.L. "Petey" Hager
On Dec. 27, 2012 Petey passed away quietly at the age of 89 in Sykesville, MD. Her energy, enthusiasm and spirit for life will be incredibly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, 7501 Church Ave., followed by a social gathering in the fellowship room to celebrate her life.

William Smith Jr.
William Claney Smith Jr., 84, of Franklin Park, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Mr. Smith had attended Assumption School in Bellevue and was a graduate of North Catholic High School, Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1950-1952 and achieved the rank of captain. He was active in politics, running for local office and fund-raising for many years. He enjoyed fishing, travel and adventure. He was a founding member of Allegheny North Swim Club.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Smith; six sons, William, James, Timothy, David and his wife Amy, Douglas and Mark and his wife Christine; three siblings, Donald Smith and his wife Mary Lou, Patricia Dougherty and her husband Edward and David Smith and his wife Judy; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Sophia and Isla. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Smith; his parents, William Claney Sr. and Mildred Bracken Smith; and two siblings, Helen Burnham and her husband James and Milton Stauber and his wife Florence.
Friends were received at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, Ross Township. A blessing service was held in St. John Neumann Church, Franklin Park, on Saturday. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Hunter Barton
Hunter Blade Barton, 19, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Mackenzie Barton; three siblings, Storm Barton, Kristofer and Jason; his grandparents, Herbert and Zelia Bettencourt; and his aunt, Sandra Bettencourt.
Friends were received at William Slater and Sons Funeral Home, Mt. Washington, where a blessing service was held on Saturday.

Priscilla Ruhe
Priscilla E. Zeitler Ruhe, 84, of Avalon, wife of the late Robert J. Ruhe, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
She is survived by her brother, Emil L. Zeitler; her niece, Carol Grom; two nephews, Gregory and Gilbert Zeitler; and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil A. and Priscilla Mayer Zeitler.
There was no visitation. Services and burial were private. Arrangements were made by Schellhaas Funeral Home, West View.

Dallas Roe Jr.
Dallas "Cowboy" Houston Roe Jr. died Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
Mr. Roe was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion Post #106, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Eleanor Carr Roe; three children, Charles P. Roe and his wife Barbara of Silver Spring, MD, Beatrice J. Melgarejo of Pittsburgh and Dallas A. Roe of Bellevue; and two grandsons, Andes "Andy" Melgarejo and Brandon Roe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Houston Sr. and Ann Margaret Szromovszky Roe; and his sister, Eleanor A. Roe Spuhler.
There was no visitation and services were private. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Joseph Codori Sr.
Joseph B. "Bernie" Codori Sr., 80, died Friday, March 29, 2013.
Mr. Codori had been Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Bellevue Council #1400, navigator of the fourth degree Fort Pitt Assembly Color Guard Corps. He served as eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church in Emsworth and the Church of the Assumption in Bellevue. He was retired from AT&T, where he was an account executive for 29 years, selling telephone systems to Pittsburgh area universities and hospitals. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict as a crew chief. He also volunteered at Suburban General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wintermantel Codori; five children, Fr. Joseph B. Codori Jr., parochial vicar at Madonna del Castello and World of God parishes in Swissvale, Sandra Paclawski and her husband Harry of Franklin Park, Gregory Codori, Linda Codori and Teresa Codori of Emsworth; his mother, Dorothea V. Codori; his brother, Michael Codori and his wife Debbie; and two grandsons, Andrew and Thomas Paclawski. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo B. Codori.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday with Fr. Joe Codori the celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to his church at 154 Orchard Ave., Emsworth, PA 15202.

Genevieve Purcell
Genevieve C. Purcell, 91, of Manor Care, Ross Township, formerly of Bellevue and wife of the late James J. Purcell, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Bruno; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins; and dear friends, Al, Anne, Judy and Shirley. She was preceded in death by her son, James L. Purcell; her parents, Phillip and Rose Cira Bruno; and four siblings, Mary Burckart, Theresa Balsamo, George Bruno and Anthony Bruno.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Tuesday. Contributions are suggested to her church at 45 N. Sprague Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202.

Charles Schlanger
Charles J. Schlanger, 87, formerly of the North Side, died Friday, March 29, 2013.
Mr. Schlanger was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Schillinger Schlanger; two daughters, Darlene Schlanger and Kathy Coyne and her husband Jerry; five siblings, Mary Dee Heim, Rose Marie Nellis, Larry, John and Michael Schlanger; his granddaughter, Katie; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Gavin; his sister-in-law, Joan Kello; his niece, Cindy; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Rose Schnur Schlanger; and two brothers, Frank and William Schlanger.

Ethel Garizas
Ethel V. Garizas, 90, of Ross Township, wife of the late Charles R. Garizas, died Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Mrs. Garizas was retired from Bell Telephone Co., where she worked as an operator and supervisor for 32 years.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Garizas of San Jose, CA and Robert Garizas and his wife Virginia of Pittsburgh.

Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Wednesday.

Dawn Greene
Dawn L. Protzman Greene of Avalon, wife of the late Frederick Greene, died Saturday, March 30, 2013.
She is survived by three children, Jennifer L. Popovich and her husband John, Jeffrey A. Malatak and his wife Daneen and Jason P. Malatak and his wife Kerri L.; and 10 grandchildren.
Friends were received at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills, where services were held on Thursday.

Robert Barton
Robert James Barton, 81, of Slippery Rock, formerly of Avalon, husband of the late Marcia A. Duncan Barton, died Sunday, March 31, 2013.
Mr. Barton was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, an honorary member of the Avalon Volunteer Fire Co., a member of American Legion Post #116 and VFW Post #6231.
He is survived by three children, Cheryl A. Reagan of Grove City, Lori J. Lux and her husband Mark S. of Slippery Rock and Jim A. Barton and his wife Lisa M. of Avalon; his sister, Katherine Steigerwald of Florida; five grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Patrick, Nicole and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Robert, Julie, Chelsey and Cody; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Ralph and Catherine Erb Barton; and two siblings, Clarence "Slim" and Eleanor Phillips.
Friends were received until the time of a memorial service in Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock, on Friday.

Dolores Lander
Dolores A. Lander, 85, formerly of Bellevue and wife of the late John R. Lander, died Sunday, March 31, 2013.
She is survived by three children, Richard Lander and his wife Lisa Lendl Lander, Debbie Damon and Susan Kohler and her husband Tom; her sister, Alice Breck; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
