Susan Banas
Susan M. Benko Banas, wife of the late Joseph B. Hlister and Vincent P. Banas, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
She is survived by eight children, Suzanne Walch and her husband Don, JoAnne Edwards and her husband Jim, Joseph Hlister and his wife Paula, Geraldine Falls and her husband Jim, Deborah Meyer and her husband Mark, Marianne Jasak, Lisa Chambliss and her husband Scott and Anita Hlister; her sister, Pauline Semko; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Benko; four siblings, Helen Wojichowski, Mary Petroval, John and George Benko; and her son-in-law, Clayton Jasak.
A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Saturday.

David Bergman
David M. Bergman, 57, of Friendly, WV, formerly of Bellevue, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in an industrial accident.
Mr. Bergman was a member of Local #2. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he had been a staff sergeant first class. He enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Bergman; four children, Kim Franks, Mark Bergman, Sarah Monteleone and her husband Anthony Jr. and April Bergman; his mother, Dorothy L. Bergman Freeman; eight siblings, Carol Kennedy and her husband John, Frank Bergman and his wife Rose, Richard Bergman and his wife Debbie, Debbie Dunn and her husband Mike, Jeff Bergman and his wife Maria, Mary Turnbull, Ken Bergman and his wife Donna and Curt Bergman and his wife Karen; and 11 grandchildren, Olivia, Chelsea, Kayla, Angie, Jenna, Taylar, Bobby, Giovanna, Breanna, Cody and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Bergman.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home. A funeral service was held in the chapel at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery on Monday.

Dorothy Fairley
Dorothy J. Brown Fairley, wife of the late Baine Fairley, died Saturday, March 23, 2013.
She is survived by five children, Patrick J. Fairley, Mary Ellen Wolczanski and her husband Anthony, Kathleen M. Glaser and her husband Glen, Audrey J. Janosco and James M. Fairley and his wife Regina; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Eynon; her brother, John Brown; and her daughter-in-law, Mildred Fairley.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Evelyn Metzler
Evelyn E. Loerlein Metzler of Avalon, wife of the late John D. Metzler, died Friday, March 22, 2013.
She is survived by six children, Richard W. Metzler and his wife Joyce, Renee A. Curry, John D. Metzler Jr. and his wife Cynthia, Darlene A. Kuban and her husband William, Evelyn A. Kunkle and her husband Mark and Sharon A. Callahan and her husband Mike; three sisters, Jacqueline Clifford, Jean Carey and her husband John "Cook" and Babe Skosnick and her husband Jack; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Richard, Dolores, Gladys, Joan, Anthony and Ronald; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills, where services were held on Tuesday.

Ralph Smay
Ralph B. Smay died Sunday, March 24, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Sims Smay; his son, Spenser Smay; six siblings, Linda Scanlon and her husband Jerry, Giles Smay II and his wife Sherri, Susan Loughner and her husband Jay, David, Mark and Sam Smay and his wife Susan; his brother-in-law, Ronald Sims and his wife Judith; and niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giles and Willadeen Smay.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral service was held in Risen Lord Church on Wednesday.

Daniel Fonzi
Daniel E. Fonzi died Monday, March 25, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Fonzi; two children, Michael Harper and Melissa Knochel and her husband Eric; three siblings, David Duff, Mary Ann Larson and her husband Thomas and Debra Beurkle and her husband David; and two grandchildren, Riley Glancy and Camryn Knochel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward D. Fonzi and Evelyn E. Duff; and two brothers, Robert and Edward Fonzi.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. Funeral services were held in Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church on Thursday.

Thelma Appleton
Thelma Jane Swoger Appleton, 84, of Robinson Township, formerly of Coraopolis and wife of the late George Holmes Appleton Jr., died Monday, March 25, 2013 in Good Samaritan Hospice House.
Mrs. Appleton was a 1946 graduate of Coraopolis High School. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. She was a seamstress, having made formal gowns, bridesmaid gowns, wedding gowns and men's suits.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith Meineke and her husband Otto of Sewickley and Ellen Lofink and her husband Paul of Brighton Heights; three sisters, Ethel Vith of McKees Rocks, Edith Riker and her husband James of Greenville and Vera Yost Robinson and her husband Clarence; four grandchildren, Ingrid Kavic and her husband Dan, Erika Ulanowicz and her husband George, Valerie Lofink and her fiance Mark Schmitt and Brian Lofink; her brother-in-law, Owen Michael of Martinsburg; and her sister-in-law, Florence Swoger of Reading. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Aristotle and Laura Frances Mabel Mason Swoger; and two siblings, Eleanor Michael and William Swoger.
Friends were received at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home where services were held on Thursday. Burial was in Smithfield East End Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice House, 146 Neely Rd., Wexford, PA 15090.

Grace Brown
Grace Madeline Brown, 65, of Verland Home in Leetsdale, formerly of Ross Township, died Saturday, March 23, 2013.
She is survived by five siblings, Elaine Brown Kostishack, Lynda Brown, Rose Marie Matela and her husband Riley, William Riley and James Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Grace Brown; her brother, Patrick K. Riley; and her stepmother, Rose E. Riley Brown.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Wednesday. Contributions are suggested to Verland Foundation, 212 Iris Rd., Sewickley, PA 15143.

Catherine L. Snyder
On Wednesday, March 20, 2013, Catherine L. Snyder, age 78, of Bellevue, formerly of McKees Rocks, wife of the late Lawrence F. Snyder, beloved mother of Sandra Tadda; grandmother of Gregory, Cierra and Casandra; sister of the late Frank Greco, Jr.
There was no visitation. Interment was private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Bellevue.
