Sarah Neuherz
Sarah Kathleen Beggs Neuherz, 85, of Avalon, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Mrs. Neuherz worked as a military secretary. She was a telephone operator for many years.
She is survived by eight children, Linda, Steve and his wife Lynn, John, Mark and his wife Debbie, Thomas and his wife Nancy, Timothy, Robert and his wife Debbie and Gerald; her sister, Joyce Winn; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James and Joseph Neuherz.
Friends were received at Schellhaas Funeral Home, West View, where a memorial service was held on Tuesday. Donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Marcina Bruno
Marcina Scacchi Bruno of Bellevue, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Mrs. Bruno was a political and social activist. She worked at Friendship Ridge in Beaver as a registered nurse.
She is survived by four children, Col. Barry Wingard, Esq., Jason DuMont, Marlee Bruno Gilliam, P.A. and Rachel Bruno; her mother, Margaret Coffman; four siblings, Elmo Coffman, Rita Jo Bierer, Margaret and Kelly Coffman, Rita Coffman; 12 grandchildren, Erik, Viviana, Jack and Ashley Wingard, Michael Danko, Joshua, Jacob, Brittany and Renee DuMont, Hailee and Perry Meenan and Sherry O'Neil; and a great-grandson, Caleb O'Neil. She was preceded in death by her son, Corey Meenan; her father, Joseph Scacchi; and her brother, Bob Coffman.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Wednesday. Burial was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Joseph Klein
Joseph W. Klein, 67, of Ben Avon, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Mr. Klein retired in 2009 as a partner of the law firm Reed Smith. During retirement, he studied matters of religious faith. He was a graduate of St. Joseph College in Philadelphia and received a master's degree in fine arts at the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. He worked as a drama teacher and later as chairman of the fine arts department at St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana, and director of a community theater in Minnesota. He attended law school at Vanderbilt University School of Law. He was a member of several bar associations and charitable boards. He worked as a hospice volunteer after his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Emsworth and served on its administrative committee.
He is survived by cousins in the Hazelton, PA area as well as Mae Eberle Moser. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline Eberle Klein; his cousin, Joseph Eberle; and his Golden Retriever, Doodles.
Friends were received at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial. A graveside service was held in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Mahanoy City, PA on Friday. Contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Church, 154 Orchard Ave., Emsworth, PA 15202. Arrangements were made by T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills.

Thomas Pastor
Thomas Pastor, 103, of Aleppo, formerly of Ben Avon and New Port Richey, FL and husband of the late Joan Smith Pastor, died Sunday, March 3, 2013.
Mr. Pastor was retired as vice president of Pittsburgh Nipple Works. He was a longtime member of Fremont Avenue United Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, where he served as elder and trustee. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, oil painting and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt football. In his retirement, he taught himself to play the organ.
He is survived by four children, Judy Pastor of Dallas, TX, Lynne Pastor of Squirrel Hill, Joan Harley of Wayne, PA and Tom Pastor of Sewickley; his grandson, Max; and his cat, Tigger.
There was no visitation and burial was private. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.

Thomas Salamacha
Thomas A. Salamacha, 55, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Mr. Salamacha had worked for Allegheny County for 27 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local #249. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his wife, Kathie Starenchak Salamacha; three children, SSGT Alexander Salamacha and his wife Jessica, Katie Salamacha and Adam Salamacha; his mother, Judy Salamacha; three siblings, Paul Salamacha and his wife Dee, John Salamacha and his wife Karen and Julie DiDonato and her husband Mark; two grandchildren,Blake and Giana Salamacha; his parents-in-law, Patricia Ahlborn and her husband Tom Cratty and Robert and Marty Starenchak; his sisters-in-law, Kim Salamacha and Denise Flannigan and her husband Dennis; his brother-in-law, Timothy Starenchak; and eight nieces and nephews, Kevin, Collin, Sarah, Brianna, Shayla, Holly, Logan and Kacie. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Salamacha.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, until the time of services on Thursday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.

Clayton Humphreys
Clayton Humphreys died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Mr. Humphreys was a member of Greenstone United Methodist Church in Avalon and the Wood Carvers Club, Chisels and Chips. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a Syria Shriner and a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite. He worked for Dravo Corp. for 42 years and he was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #66 for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Humphreys; two children, Carol J. Linn and her husband Steve of Canton, OH and David Steven Humphreys; his daughter-in-law, Jean Humphreys of Maryland; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Clara Humphreys of Columbus, OH; his niece, June Hassinger and her husband Richard of Pittsburgh; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James Humphreys III; and four siblings.
Friends will be received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, on Saturday, March 16, from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at 1 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Greenstone United Methodist Church or Good Samaritan Hospice.

Stanley Szafranski
Stanley C. Szafranski, 88, of Pittsburgh, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Luteran and her husband John of Florida; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Minnie Gorney Szafranski; and four siblings, Chester and Leonard Szafranski, Frances Ermond and Stella Trojan.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Wednesday. Contributions are suggested to his church at 3854 Brighton Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Lawrence Rosell
Lawrence William Rosell, 70, of Avalon, died Monday, March 4, 2013.
Arrangements were made by Robinson Funeral Home, Perry Hilltop.

Michel Niggel
Michel J. Niggel, 59, of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Niggel; three children, Michael Niggel and his wife Ally, Deborah Mock and her husband Dennis and Sherry Niggel; and two grandsons, Dennis and Dillon Mock.
There was no visitation. Services and burial were private. Donations are suggested to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.
