Ann Deckenbach
Ann L. Erdner Deckenbach, 93, of Oakmont, formerly of Avalon and wife of the late Charles Deckenbach, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula "P.J." Bombara; three sisters, Margaret Diroll, Sophia Pike and Dorothy Delp; and her granddaughter, Alecia M. Bombara. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Edith Munk, Mary Backe, Paul, Joseph, John and Edward Erdner.
Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home, Oakmont, where services were held.

Dolores Hutchinson
Dolores A. "Dee" Hutchinson, 85, of the North Side, wife of the late Thomas Hutchinson, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Cavish and her husband Daniel J.; two sisters, Mary Jane Bahney and Eileen Kelly; two grandchildren, Lori Stroupe and her husband Charlie and Daniel T. Cavish; and two great-grandchildren, Randy Grossman and Bianca Stroupe. She was preceded in death by three siblings.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Saturday. Burial was in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.

Nancy Jones
Nancy Hesper Barry Jones, 93, wife of the late Robert K. Jones, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.
She is survived by two children, Bob and TJ Jones; two grandchildren, Laurie Koehler and her husband Jeff and Beau Jones and his wife Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, Shea, McKae and Gavin Jones, Angela and Christopher Koehler.
A memorial service was held in Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon on Saturday. Donations are suggested to her church at 7501 Church Ave., Ben Avon, PA 15202.

Eileen Winkler
Eileen Matthews Winkler, 69, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011.
Mrs. Winkler was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish in Millvale. She served as Eucharistic minister, wedding coordinator, treasurer of the Christian Mothers and was on parish council. She also was an active volunteer for Meals On Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, walks on the beach in Florida, shopping, cooking and knitting.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Winkler; seven children, Karen Wainwright and her husband William, Kristine Remas and her husband David, Amy Knaus and her husband Keith, Susan Solinski and her husband Paul, Joseph Winkler and his wife Denise, Jennifer Horan and her husband Michael and David Winkler and his wife Amy; her sister, Linda Prepelka and her husband Samuel; 17 grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin and Abigail Wainwright, Joseph and Elizabeth Remas, Amanda, Sarah, Holly and Matthew Knaus, Joey, Jacob and Olivia Winkler, Nathaniel and Connor Horan, Greta, Alana and David Winkler; three sisters-in-law, Dolores Ebbert, Barbara Fischer and Juanita Fischer and her husband Ronald; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Marie Loomis Matthews; her brother-in-law, Walter Ebbert.

William Gruber
William C. Gruber, 83, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.
Mr. Gruber was a USPS letter carrier for 32 years. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption for 58 years. He also was a member of Sewickley Senior Men's Club and a volunteer for Avalon/Bellevue Meals On Wheels. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen G. Gruber; his cousin, Barb Donovan; eight nieces and nephews, Helen A., Kathleen, Martin and Michael Gruber, all of Bellevue, Mary Vickinovac and her husband Samuel of North Side, Timothy, Thomas and his wife Sue and Robert Gruber and his wife Rainie of South Side; and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Joseph and Marie B. Rudolph Gruber; two brothers, Norbert C. and Ronald C. Gruber; and his niece, Theresa Kotewicz.

William Gabig
William F. Gabig, 91, of Avalon, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
Mr. Gabig was a Duquesne University graduate. He was retired from Colt Industries in Beloit, WI. He was a member of Knight of Columbus Bellevue Chapter #1400 and he had been an usher at St. Athanasius Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Mueller Gabig; his son, Donald L. Gabig and his wife Cathy; his granddaughter, Amy Gabig; and two great-grandsons, Robert and Brayden Downs. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Don, Jerome, Carl and Robert Gabig.

Linda Haas
Linda J. Stephany Haas, 61, of Avalon died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Richard R. Haas; her daughter, Michelle Haas; two brothers, Regis Stephany and his wife Charlotte and Howard Stephany and his wife Mary Jane; her granddaughter, Michelle; sister-in-law of Evelyn Stephany, Patricia Reinhart, Leonard Stephany and his wife Nancy, Carol Melvin and her husband Jim and Paul Stephany and his wife Chris; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Stephany.
There was no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Wednesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to UPMC Cancer Center. Arrangements were made by H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, North Hills.

Grace Kenny
Grace C. Michaely Kenny, 89, of Bellevue, wife of the late Edward R. Kenny, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
She is survived by five children, John K. Kenny and his wife Donna, Charles E. Kenny and his wife Patricia, Robert W. Kenny and his wife Patrice, Michael K. Kenny and Kathleen M. Kenny; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Charles Michaely; and her grandson, LCpl. Patrick B. Kenny.
There was no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Esther Schallack
Esther K. Pohl Schallack, 83, formerly of Emsworth and Avalon and wife of the late Joseph C. Schallack, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.
She is survived by two children, Ronald J. Schallack and his wife Sherrie of Connecticut and Siusan E. Johnson of Arizona; five grandchildren, Cynthia Frederick, Gabrielle Johnson, Jeremy, Vanessa and Jonathan Schallack; and six great-grandchildren, Trevor Frederick, Jake Schallack, Tristan Frederick, Brandon Schallack, Nathan Schallack and Timothy Schallack. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Katherine Bauer Pohl; five siblings, William Pohl, Norman W. Pohl, Sr. M. Stella Coletta Pohl, O.S.F., Monica E. Fox and Clara M. Hyneckeal; and her grandparents, John and Amelia Richter Pohl and Valentine and Mary Vetter Bauer.
There was no visitation. A funeral mass was held in the Church of the Assumption on Thursday. Burial was in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Vincentian Home, 111 Perrymont Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Richard Zawojski
Richard Zawojski, 84, of Pittsburgh, husband of the late Antoinette Pusateri Zawojski, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
He is survived by his son, Frank Zawojski and his wife Katherine; his sister, Lenora "Babe" Bauer; two grandsons, Timothy and Michael Zawojski; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nine siblings, Peter, Joseph, Felix, Frank, Bernard and Stanley Zawojski, Josephine Rudnick, Dolores Zawojski and Stella Ban.

Viola Barker
Viola F. Barker, 93, of Emsworth, wife of the late Charles Barker, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011.
Mrs. Barker was a Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed teaching the Bible to others. She also enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by two children, Linda Holmes and David Barker; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Rattenni.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m., at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 173 Reis Run Rd., North Hills.

Herman Borza
Herman T. Borza, husband of the late Ruth Bookser Borza, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011.
Mr. Borza flew 86 missions in a P47 Thunderbolt named "Ruthless" during World War II in the European Theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Presidential Unit Citations and three Air Medals. He was inducted into the Soldiers and Sailors Hall of Valor.
He is survived by three children, Robert T. Borza and his wife Dot, Thomas P. Borza and Peg Petrie and her husband Phil; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James R. Borza; and his brother, Edward Borza.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to Kane Regional Center at Ross Twp., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Conrad Davis Jr.
Conrad C. Davis Jr., 84, of Baden, PA died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Champion Davis; and two siblings, Charles of Ben Avon and Carolyn of Hopewell Township.
Friends were received at Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, Rochester, PA, where services were held on Friday with the pastor of Conway Presbyterian Church officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to his church.

John Harris
John Benner "Bob" Harris, 88, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011.
Mr. Harris had retired from Clark Candy Co. after more than 30 years of service. He worked for Erik Lighting Co. for more than 10 years and then worked for Giant Eagle.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Harris; three children, John and his wife Darlene, Mary Ellen and her husband Mike and Jim and his wife Tina; four siblings, Hazel, Cloyd, Beatrice and Evelyn; 11 grandchildren, Dawn, Roxanne, Eric, Jeanie, Trish, John, Tara, Tawnya, Zach, Christina and Camaron; great-grandchildren; and a great-grandfather relationship with Logan, Tyler and Riley. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom and his wife Ruth; and two siblings, Jean and Paul.
