Marjorie Curtin
Marjorie J. "Margie" Curtin died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015.
Mrs. Curtin was a retired crossing guard for the City of Pittsburgh.
She is survived by two children, Dena Hitchan and her husband Paul and Don Curtin and his wife Mary of Columbus, OH; her brother, Jim Montgomery and his wife Rayna; and six grandchildren, Haylee and Megan Hitchan, Joshua, Andrew, Zachary and Samantha Curtin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Smith Montgomery.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Saturday.

Edward Kuriger
Edward L. "Ted" Kuriger, 83, formerly of Avalon, died Thursday, Feb.12, 2015.
Mr. Kuriger was a graduate of Avalon High School and the University of Pittsburgh. In 1963, he began working in the economics and business administration department of Geneva College for 34 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Habbyshaw Kuriger of College Hill; his son, Edward L. "Larry" Kuriger II and his wife Tammy of Ellwood City, PA; his sister, Eleanor Guziak of Monroeville; his sister-in-law, Katherine "Kathy" Miller of College Hill; two granddaughters, Laura and Sarah Reese of Ellwood City; five nieces and nephews, David, Robert, Jamie, Linda and Mark; and his grand-pets. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Vivian Schmucker Kuriger.
There was no visitation. A memorial service was held in First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, on Monday, with the Rev. Dr. Henry Knapp officiating. Burial was in Beaver Falls Cemetery.

Joseph Tunstall
Joseph Tunstall, 75, of Avalon, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015.
Friends were received at Heard Funeral Home, Observatory Hill, until the time of a blessing service on Thursday.

Deborah Lee Hartwick
Deborah Lee Hartwick, 57, of Avalon, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015.
She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Hartwick and Daniel C. Hightower and his wife Stefanie; three brothers, Louie and John Lemonde and Alvin Clark; five grandchildren, Keyonna, Michael Jr., DC, Dante and Danica; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in New Life Community Church in Bellevue on Thursday. Arrangements were made by Ball Funeral Chapel.

Patricia Wadlow
Patricia Barrett Wadlow, 81, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Bellevue and Wexford and wife of the late James Wadlow, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015.
Mrs. Wadlow was the owner of Wadlow Real Estate, Leisure World Travel Agency and the Wexford Inn. She had been president of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed traveling. She was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales in McKees Rocks.
She is survived by five children, James, Lawrence and Charles Wadlow and his wife Tammy, Sue Laurence and her husband Chris and Margie Niedecker and her husband Mike; her brother, Joseph Barrett and his wife Maureen; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Palms Mortuary, North Las Vegas, on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Lewis Stringert Jr.
Lewis William Stringert Jr., 63, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2015.
Mr. Stringert was a self-employed landscaper serving the residents of the North Boroughs. He served as captain for the Emsworth Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia L. Kline Stringert; his son, Christopher Michael Stringert; his mother, Betty Webb Stringert; his uncle, Myrle Webb II; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis William Stringert Sr.; and his sister, Linda Devlin.
Services and burial were private. Memorial contributions are suggested to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Arrangements were made by McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon.

Carolyn VanShura
Carolyn M. VanShura, 91, of Moon Township, formerly of West Park and Ben Avon, wife of the late Vincent J. VanShura, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at Pathways at Willow Lane.
Mrs. VanShura worked as a secretary in a law firm and was co-owner of a children's clothing shop. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish, where she was a eucharistic minister. She was a member of the choir, the Women's Guild and Christian Mothers. She also was a Girl Scout leader in Moon Township. She enjoyed cooking and collecting dolls.
She is survived by three children, Lisa C. Beadle and her husband John C. of Hickory, PA, Lana C. Hank and her husband David L. of Kennedy Township and Kevin V. VanShura and his wife Donna M. of Sewickley; her daughter-in-law, Rosanne VanShura of Moon Township; two sisters, Anna M. Garofalo of McKees Rocks and Elsie M. Allen of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Jayson L. VanShura and his wife Kimberli A., Erin VanShura Garbin and her husband Thomas A., Jesse D. Hank, Alexa L. Hank, Jason M. Beadle and Jared M. Beadle; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan R. VanShura; her parents, Stephan and Caroline Millner Smaltzer; two brothers, Albert and Ralph W. Smaltzer; and her grandson, David J. Beadle.
Friends were received at Copeland Funeral Home, Moon Township. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Margaret Mary Parish on Thursday, with Rev. Frank Kurimsky officiating. Burial was in Sewickley Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association.

Sandra Parker
Sandra J. Haas Parker, 53, of Bellevue, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.
Mrs. Parker was a nurse at Suburban General and Presbyterian hospitals for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Harry" Parker; three children, Kristi Abernethy and her husband Justin, Bryan and Alexandra Parker; her mother, Mildred Haas; her brother, Donald Haas and his wife Beverly; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Haas.
Friends were received at Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, North Side, where a blessing service was held.

Susanne Waibel
Susanne P. Farrell Waibel, 68, of Brighton Heights, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph T. Waibel; three children, Kristie Ross, Ralph D. Waibel and his wife Mary and Amy Saunders; two brothers, Charles and Richard Trust; and eight grandchildren, Timothy, Chelsey, Brian, Justin, Brianna, Rylee, Shane and Tanner. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Farrell.
Friends were received at Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills, where services were held on Thursday. Burial was in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
