Douglas E. Mahaven
Douglas E. Mahaven, 67, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
He was the son of the late Harry and Anna Mahaven; husband of Carla (Hartz) Mahaven; father of Tim (Stephanie Kulak) Mahaven, Angela (Jim) Bates and Jaclyn (Jeremy) Sweeney; grandfather of Kaitlyn Bates, Kaden Loveridge, Maddy Sweeney and Cathan Sweeney.
Doug was a member of the Syria Shrine, the Mason's Avalon Lodge #657, a member of Royal Order of Scotland and the Grotto MOVPER, and was a veteran of the US Air Force.
Friends received Friday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 460 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, where Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.

Irwin “Irv” Berliner
Irwin “Irv” Berliner died Sunday, October 29, 2017.
He was the husband of Marguerite and the late Rita Berliner; father of Marc (Randi) Berliner, Sherri (Fred) Mayer both of Pittsburgh and Amy (Larry) Simon of Boynton Beach, FL. Also survived by seven grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
For many years, Irv was owner of Discount Tire Center of Bellevue.
Memorial Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Bettie Bates
Bettie Bates, 95, a longtime resident of Avalon, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
She was the wife of the late William Bates, Sr.; mother of William (Jacqueline) Bates, of Peachtree City, GA and the late Joyce (surviving spouse, Richard) Dietz; grandmother of Angela (Mac) McSwain, Rick (Heather) Dietz, Brenda (Geoffrey) Deckelbaum, and Gregory (Sally)
Bettie is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Stanley E. Whiting
Stanley E Whiting, 100, died Monday, October 30, 2017.
He was born to Carol and Waldo Fawcett, Stan was proud of his descent from those who sailed on the Mayflower and fought in the American Revolution. Married in 1943 to Harriet Foye, he raised his daughters Patti (Paul Lebanik) and Debbie (John Quest) in Bellevue. He and Harriet spent their later years at the Hampshire House in Avalon before finally settling at Passavant Retirement Center in Zelienople. They were blessed with two grand-daughters, Laura (Mike Tso) and Christy (Will Lowry) and three great-grandsons, Matthew, David, and Owen.
Stanley was a graduate of Perry High and Pitt; he filled his life with a variety of activities ranging from Boy Scout to avid traveler/camper/photographer; from Navy Seaman to systems analyst for Bell Telephone; from Bellevue/Northgate School Authority President to President of the Harmony Associates; from choir member at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, West View to Deacon; from YMCA/AARP computer teacher to cooper at the Bob Evan's Farm Festival. His last gig was travelogue presenter at Passavant Retirement Center.
Friends will be received in the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Ave. Avalon, PA 15202, where services will be held Saturday at 11am. Private interment. Donations may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, West View.
