Walter Beals
Walter Beals, 67, of Ross Township, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009.
Mr. Beals was a graduate of Bellaire High School and Duquesne University. He taught in the Pittsburgh Public School District for more than 30 years. During retirement, he enjoyed painting, sculpting, gardening and golf, tennis and bowling.
He is survived by two children, Suzi Shaw and Steven Patton; and his sister, Tamara Pinarich. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Voynick.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, until the time of services on Friday. Burial was private. Donations are suggested to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Michael Sanguigni
Michael L. Sanguigni, 24, of Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.
He is survived by his daughter, Gabriella Sanguigni; his parents, Alexander D. Sanguigni Jr. of North Side and Laura J. Sanguigni of Bellevue; two siblings, Travis Sears and Kaitlyn Sanguigni; his grandparents, Alexander D. Sanguigni Sr. of Cranberry Township and Margaret Sullivan-Sanguigni of North Hills; three uncles, Robert, Kevin and Matthew Sanguigni; his aunt, Bridget Clarke; and a dear friend, Stacy Klein.
There was no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Peter Church, North Side, on Tuesday. Burial was private. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.
William Greer
William T. Greer died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
Mr. Greer was a former business agent for Local #20 AFL-CIO.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Greer; his daughter, Pam Greer; five siblings, Joan Pettigrew, Carol Montgomery, Andy, Jack and Tim Greer; and nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Tuesday.

Louise Law
Louise A. Law, wife of the late Edward J. Law, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Law and his wife Nancy, Eric Law and his wife Donna and Mark Law and his wife Sandy; and two granddaughters, Melissa and Rebecca. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anne Glogowski; and her brother, Michael S. Glenn.

Lisa Ann Shriner
Lisa Ann Shriner, 43, of Murphy, TX, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Shriner; two children, Lauren and Steven; her father, Bernard Rowen; and two siblings, Carrie Gable and Robert Rowan.
There was no visitation. A funeral service was held in Christ Episcopal Church, Ross Township, on Friday. Donations are suggested to the American Red Cross. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.

Elizabeth Bertges
Elizabeth C. Bertges, 90, of Ross Township, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.
Mrs. Bertges was a longtime member of St. Cyril of Alexandria Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and also a member of AARP #1435.
She is survived by her husband, Charles O. Bertges; two daughters, Betty Koch and her husband Bernard of McCandless Township and Barbara Friedel and her husband Ralph of Baden, PA; her sister, Martha Scott; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susanne Kaminski.

Wilma Jean Carpenter-McKelvia
Wilma Jean Carpenter-McKelvia, 64, of the North Side, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009.
She is survived by her mother, Mattie Sue Gist; 12 children; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Robinson Funeral Home, Perry Hilltop. A celebration of life service was held in Greater Allen A.M.E. Church, Brighton Heights, on Wednesday. Burial was in Allegheny Cemetery.

Helen M. Stiploshek Henzler, 82, of Avalon, formerly of the North Side, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Henzler; six children, Catherine M. Weber, Robert M. Henzler, Mark A. Henzler, Jeffrey R. Henzler, David J. Henzler and Gregory W. Henzler; and 14 grandchildren.

Jeanette C. Coulter Judd of Bellevue died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
She is survived by three children, Nanette Holmes, Daniel Judd and Harold Kurtz; her brother, Ernie Coulter and his wife Rose; and her grandson, John Holmes.

Robert Yockel
Robert Yockel, 83, of Avalon, formerly of Ross Township and the North Side, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary McCarthy Yockel; his stepson, Frank Johnston and his wife Carolyn; seven siblings, Marcella Zoller, Wilma Monteleone and her husband Carl, Elizabeth Skundrich and her husband Raymond, Howard "Buck" Yockel and his wife Joan, Paul Yockel and his wife Pat, Mary Alice Tewell and her husband Harry and Richard Yockel; his step-grandson, Sean Johnston; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Clyde and Thelma Yockel.

Phyllis Jeletic
Phyllis A. Jeletic, 81, of Avalon, wife of the late Frank G. Jeletic, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.
Mrs. Jeletic was active with the North Boroughs Girl Scouts for 25 years.
She is survived by two children, Janice G. Jeletic and James F. Jeletic and his wife Kellyann of Annapolis, MD; three grandchildren, Christopher, Jordan and Jenna; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip S. and Grace W. Lear; and her sister, Helen C. Haas.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Tuesday. Burial was in United Cemetery.

Gertrude McCausland
Gertrude Anna McCausland, 84, of Emsworth, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.
She is survived by four children, Bonnie Wilhelm and her husband Robert and Evonn McCausland, all of Emsworth, Stuart G. McCausland Jr. of Shadyside and Donald McCausland of Emsworth; and two granddaughters, Julie and Kelly McCausland. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas McCausland.
Services and burial were private. Arrangements were made by McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon.

Eugene Pollock
Eugene M. Pollock, 82, of Ohio Township, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.
Mr. Pollock was a member of Doric Lodge #630 F&AM for 46 years and Operating Engineers Local #66 for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Thompson Pollock; four children, Gene Pollock and his wife Audrey of Ohio Township, Catherine Hepner and her husband Dennis of Bellevue, Ernest Pollock of Ohio Township and Bruce Pollock and his wife Kristen of Rochester, MN; three siblings, Lillian Salzer and her husband John of Naples, FL, Earnest Pollock of Ohio Township and Anna Belle Schwoegl and her husband George of Emsworth; and nine grandchildren, Ryan Rulli and his wife Annette, Julie Hepner, Christopher Pollock, Amy and Katie Hepner, Jennifer, Elle, Grace and Willem Pollock; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Bell and her husband George; and his sister-in-law, Audrey Pollock.

Joseph LaRosa Jr.
Joseph R. LaRosa Jr. of Brighton Heights died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Connie LaRosa; his son, Joseph V. LaRosa and his wife Darla; and two grandchildren, Vincent and Vittoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose LaRosa.

Ruth Spohn
Ruth Threnhauser Spohn, 99, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Ben Avon Heights and wife of the late Charles Spohn, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.
Mrs. Spohn was a graduate of Carrick High School and Indiana State University. She taught at Brookline Elementary School. She was an avid bridge player. While living at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township, she spent much of her time in the gift shop and on the decorating committee.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy S. Semyan of Dallas, TX and Linda S. Hemming and her husband Tom of Gibsonia; three grandchildren, Heidi H. Schultz and her husband John, Matthew J. Hemming and his wife Ruthanne and Holly H. Elste and her husband Andrew; and three great-grandchildren, Noah and Fiona Elste and Griffin Schultz. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dallas Threnhauser.
Services and burial were private. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sherwood Oaks Resident Association Reserve Fund, 100 Norman Dr., Cranberry Township, PA 16066 or a favorite charity. Arrangements were made by H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, North Hills.

Raymond Samuels
Raymond J. Samuels, 77, of Ross Township, husband of the late Connie Samuels, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.
Mr. Samuels was a longtime employee of P&LE Railroad. He was past Master of Temple Lodge #678 and a member of Centennial Lodge #544.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Dunn and her husband Buddy and Patricia Maguire and her husband Mickey; and four grandchildren, Christina and Brian Dunn and his wife Kristen and Taylor and Connor Maguire. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ursula Samuels; and his miniature Schnauzer, Tammy.

William R. Surenda died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009.
He is survived by two sisters, Edna R. Surenda and Alma M. Surenda; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Angeline Radanovich Surenda; and two siblings, Rita C. and Andrew R. Surenda.

Robert L. Workman died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne M. Morozowich Workman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorma Workman.
