John M. Ropar
John M. Ropar of Ross Township died Saturday, October 13, 2018.
He was the husband of 46 years to Shirley Ropar; father of Cathy (Rick) Bayles, John (Eileen) Ropar, Jr., Mary Louise (the late Ron) Abbott, Chris (Barbara) Ropar, Tom (Lori) Mackiewicz, Andrea (Blaise) Champagne and Kathy (Jim) McCaffrey; grandfather of 12; great-grandfather of six; and brother of Florence (Bob) and the late Marcella, Dorothy, Chuck, Dolly and Denny.
John was an Army Paratrooper during WWII, earning a Purple Heart and was a member of McArthur's Honor Guard. He graduated from Bellevue High School and earned a degree from the American Television Institute of Technology in Chicago. John was founder and co-owner of Penn Technical Institute and was considered by all as an electronics genius.
He loved to golf and was a former member of the Sewickley Heights Golf Club.

Gregory F. Gubish, Sr.
Gregory F. Gubish, Sr., 67, died Thursday, October 18, 2018, following surgery and a courageous battle with colon disease.
He was the son of Ann Harnaha Gubish; husband of Carrie Jo Gubish; father of Matthew (Eric), Lauden, Gregory Jr., Jo Anna and Gabriel; brother of Mary Ann, Bob, and Frank (Tammy); brother-in-law of Lori Gubish; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins; preceded in death by his father, Frank C. Gubish.
At the family's request, a private service will be held with burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, since he served in the US Navy for nine years.

Ruth Eleanor Staples
Ruth Eleanor Staples, 107, formerly of Ross Township, died September 5, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. Staples Jr. and Katherine Batts Staples, and her brother, William H. Staples III, who was 7 years older.
She graduated from Bellevue High School and earned both bachelor and master of arts degrees in Spanish from the University of Pittsburgh. She taught Americanization classes to eager immigrants at night school and Spanish to young ladies at Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University). She later joined with Cecelia Busch to establish Berkeley Hills Gardens, a flower and gift specialty shop on Thompson Run Road.
She retired at age 65 from the Elementary Instructional Materials Center of the North Hills School District. After retirement she discovered counted cross stitch and her needle flew!
She lived her last 15 years at Passavant Community in Zelienople where she flourished living independently and then with assistance.
She leaves behind her close friends, Jim and Diane Boffo; her niece, Marjory (Philip) Greenisen; a great-niece, Cheryl (Mike) Molnar; and a great-nephew, Matthew Greenisen.

Samuel McKee
Samuel McKee, of Ross Township, died Monday, October 22, 2018.
He was the husband of the late Agnes (Rohm) McKee; father of Sam McKee, James (late Bonnie) McKee, Patricia Tedeski and the late Kathleen McKee; brother of Jack McKee and late brothers and sisters; grandfather of Tara, Jim and Shanna McKee, Jon, Heather and Adam Kulwicki; also survived by nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Samuel was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
