Scott Berger
Scott W. Berger, 53, of Bellevue, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.
He is survived by two siblings, Duaine Berger and his wife Sue and Robin Berger; three nieces, Anna Everitt, Rochelle Berger and Amanda Berger; his nephew, Justin Berger; the Eich family; and cousins.
Friends were received at Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, North Side, until the time of a blessing service on Monday.

William Kenny
William V. Kenny, husband of the late Martha Baer Kenny and Laura Cegan Kenny, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.
He is survived by his son, Robert W. Kenny and his wife Jacqueline Spare; two stepchildren, Patricia Clark of Florida and Ronald Kuc; two grandchildren, Patricia W. Kenny and Jessica Sauers; and three great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Kendall Sauers and Patrick S. Kenny.
Friends were received at O'Brien Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Monday.

William Powell
William J. Powell, 86, of Pittsburgh, formerly of the Bronx, NY, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014.
Mr. Powell was a 1950 graduate of Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. He worked as a high school teacher in New York City and then had a long career as an advertising executive. He was a copywriter and then creative director in agencies in New York, Pittsburgh and Chicago. He taught advertising at Temple University in Philadelphia for a short time.
He is survived by three sons, William Powell Jr. of Shanghai, Michael Powell of O'Hara Township and Robert Powell of Avalon; his twin brother, Ralph Powell of Paramus, NJ; his former wife, Mary Eileen Powell of Sewickley; and five grandchildren, Helena, Griffin, Canain, Simon and Abby.
Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Arrangements were made by McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon.

Charles Hamilton
Charles P. Hamilton, 83, of Franklin Park, formerly of Ben Avon, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
Mr. Hamilton attended Avonworth High School and earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He worked in banking with Mellon Bank, Parkvale Savings and North Side Bank (FNB). He was a member of Pittsburgh Credit Association and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was active in the Franklin Park community by volunteering with Cub and Boy Scouts, civil service board, zoning board and the Franklin Park Republican Committee. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and a member of many committees.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Susser Hamilton; two sons, David Hamilton and his wife Tricia of Hughesville, MD and Steven Hamilton and his wife Marilee of Milton, GA; three granddaughters and a grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin Nat and Jim.
Friends will be received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon, today, Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Saturday, 1-3 p.m., at Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon with a memorial service immediately following. Memorial contributions are suggested to his church at 7501 Church Ave., Ben Avon, PA 15202.

James Johnson
James Edward Johnson, 86, originally from Ambridge, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a sergeant and teletype operator. He fought in Europe and Africa. He then worked at J&L Steel in Aliquippa. He was active in the church choir and was a deacon. He also was a Boy Scout leader. For 20 years, he drove an Avonworth school bus and worked for Lenzner Bus Lines. He enjoyed music and had a huge album collection and enjoyed dancing. He also drove a bus for concerts at the Post-Gazette pavilion.
He is survived by his wife, Daryl Lynn Zanotti Johnson; three children, Staci Lynn, Scott James Johnson and Patricia Johnson Ettore; four grandchildren, Kayla Elizabeth, Zachary Allen, Chad Edward and Don Michael; and his great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Maude Gafney; and his brother, John Hopkins.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A memorial service was held in Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon on Thursday. Burial was in Sewickley Cemetery.

Valerie Schneider
Valerie "Vallie" Wikert Schneider, 74, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Avalon, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.
Mrs. Schneider was a 1958 graduate of Avalon High School. She had worked as an executive administrative assistant at Mercedes-Benz Credit Corp. for 20 years.
She is survived by four children, Jeffrey Allen Schneider of Milton, GA, Joseph Anthony Schneider and his wife Kimberly Clements of Seattle, WA, Susan Marie Schneider of Alpharetta, GA and Heather Ann Pascarella and her husband Carmine of Millstone, NJ; two siblings, John "Jack" Wikert of Federal Way, WA and Carol Ann Kenny of Crystal Lake, IL; and six grandchildren, Finnegan, Emma, Nora, Balloch, Luke and Harper. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary; and her parents, John "Jack" and Nora Collins Wikert.
Friends will be received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, today, Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Church of the Assumption on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Donations are suggested to American Parkinson's Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
