Richard C.Miller, Ph.D.
Richard Miller, of Evans City, age 88, died peacefully at home in hospice care on December 31, 2018. Dick had a long and distinguished career as a psychologist and only recently retired in late 2016. Along with longtime psychology practice partner Bob Romano, he was a recipient of the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association’s Legacy Award for Carrying the Torch for Psychology in the Pittsburgh Community (2000). He was also President of the Clinical Division for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (1983-84), and an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh.
Outside the field of psychology, Dick was passionate about horses. He was active in Region 15 of the International Arabian Horse Association and received their Ambassador of the Year Award (1989). Dick and his wife Lois were volunteers and board members of Riding for the Handicapped of Western Pennsylvania, a nonprofit equine assisted therapy program.
Born on May 18, 1930 and a 1948 graduate of Moon High School, Dick graduated from Bucknell University and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois (Weaver) on August 5, 1950. She survives him, in addition to his brother John (Jack) Miller, of Moon, and son Richard and his wife Jane, of Avalon, and son Jeff and partner Heidi Murrin, of Baden. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Megan (Miller) and Paul Wegley, of Coraopolis; Aaron and Alicia (Hayes) Miller, of Moon; Caitlin Miller and Tabitha Natale of Forest Hills; Jennifer (Miller) and Brady Crytzer of Imperial and Elizabeth Miller of Avalon. Ten great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews, are also survivors.
Celebrate his life this Saturday from 12 – 4 p.m., with a service immediately following, at Copeland’s Funeral Home, 981 Moon Twp., PA 15108. Morrow “Woody” Woodburn Jr.
Morrow “Woody” Woodburn Jr., 73, of Wexford, formerly of Avalon, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018.
He was the son son of the late Morrow M. and Virginia (Kruse) Woodburn, Sr.; cousin of Esther Scheibel, Cordie, Garth and Brandt Scheidemantel, Howard and Robert Grey, Robert White, Jr., Bonnie Hollis, Ella Jakub, Donald Kruse and the late John "Jack" Woodburn; also survived by best friend, Jay Thomas.
Mr. Woodburn taught in the North Hills School District for 40 years and was the ninth grade boys’ basketball coach for 32 years. Woody was inducted into the North Hills School District Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 5, 2013 and was Master of Ceremonies and supporter of the North Hills Band Festival. He was instrumental in the lives of the students that he taught, coached and mentored.
Woody was also a life long member of Greenstone United Methodist Church and donated much of his time to the church.

Thomas Frew
Thomas Frew, 65, of Kilbuck Township, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018.
He was the son of the late James G. and Mary "Betty" (Lavelle) Frew; brother of James (Michele) and Timothy (Maureen) Frew; uncle of Adam, Rena, Caitlan, Tyler and Molly; great-uncle of Jackson, Calder, Lachlann, Scarlett, Lili, Sadie, Lydia, Dante, Nolan and Owen.

Roland T. Barry
Roland T. Barry, 87, of Bellevue, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018.
He was the husband of 68 years to Mary (DePofi) Barry; father of Linda (Walter) Robertson, Barbara (Marty) Boretzky and their children, Barry, Staci and Candace, Cindy (Dennis Nash) Helbling, and her children, Haley and Evan, and Michael (Jan) Barry, and children, Nicole, Shawn, Brian and Steven; uncle of Kathi Oberst, Gayle Laughlin, the late Bobby Barry; survived by additional nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren; preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or the Alzheimer's Association ( alz.org).

Lucille W. (Brittain) Snyder
Lucille W. (Brittain) Snyder, 92, of Avalon, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.
She was the wife of the late Albert W, Snyder, Sr.; mother of Albert W, (Elaine) Snyder, Jr., and the late John K. White. Also survived by two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister of David Brittain.
As per Lucille’s wishes, service and interment are private.
