Dorthy Dorman
Dorthy G. (Gercken) Dorman, 93, of West View, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013.
She was the loving wife of the late Lawrence C. Dorman; beloved mother of June (Harry) Bolette and Nancy (Martin) Tranquada; grandmother of Fiona, Andrew, Hazel, Eileen, Colin, John, Justin, and Adam; great-grandmother of Luke and Joey. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, June; and her brother, Joseph.
Friends were received Monday at 6 p.m. for a memorial service in the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., Ross Township.

Samuel Stroh
Samuel Y. Stroh, 90, of Bellevue, died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.
He was the former husband of the late Nancy Stroh and longtime companion of Marion Martin.
Samuel was a WWII veteran, having proudly served in the Marine Corps from May 1941 to November 1945. Graduating from the University of Pittsburgh law school, he opened his own practice in downtown Pittsburgh where he retired after 50 years.
He was a member of the Pittsburgh Foundation, Duquesne Club, Pittsburgh Athletic Club, Teutonic Mannerchor German Club and a lifetime member of the Shriners and the Masons, former chairman of the board for the Divine Providence Hospital and former chairman of the Wellfleeter Condos in Wellfleet, MA.
There was be no visitation, and services and interment were private. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., Avalon. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

Brian Vickers
Brian F. Vickers, 42, of Shaler Township, formerly of Brighton Heights, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa R. Bodura Vickers; two children, Lily A. and Austin E. Vickers; his mother, Carol Semich; his grandmother, Elizabeth Walker; and his dog, Chloe. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Vickers; and his grandfather, Edward Walker.
Friends were received at Walter J. Zalewski Funeral Home, Lawrenceville. A funeral mass was held in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday.

Frances Clark
Frances Mountsier Clark, 93, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence "Bill" Clark; loving mother of Jean (James) Hykes and Catherine (Wayne) Gerhold; proud grandmother of Steven Hykes, Brian (Jennifer) Hykes, Sarah (Aaron) Beckley, Benjamin (Kathleen) Gerhold and Christine (Jeffrey) Zahorchak; sister-in-law of John Clark and Jean Gerken.
Frances was a retired elementary school teacher , having taught in Bellevue and Mt Lebanon.
There was no visitation, and a service and interment were private. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to The Cedars Foundation, 4363 Northern Pike, Monroeville, PA 15146.

Russell Kight Sr.
Russell M. Kight Sr., 96, of Munhall, formerly of the North Side, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
Mr. Kight was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a platoon sergeant and aircraft gunner in Greenland. He was a longtime member of the Masons and a member of Melnor Lodge #287.
He is survived by his wife, Olive McElhaney Kight; two children, Diane Coyne and her husband Mike and Russell Kight Jr. and his wife Jeanne; three grandchildren, Meaghan Hankle and her husband Jon, Brendan Coyne and his wife Michelle and Ryan Kight and his wife Amanda; and five great-grandchildren, William Russell and Violet Coyne, Colin and Abigail Hankle and Cole Kight.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, where services were held on Monday. Burial was in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

Mercedes Maher
Mercedes M. White Maher, wife of the late James J. Maher, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013.
She is survived by two siblings, William J. White and his wife Mary Ann and Patricia Nolder; four nieces and nephews, Sharon White, Karen Nolder and her fiance Mike, W. Scott White and his wife Jennifer and Julie A. Hazard and her husband Joseph; and six grandnieces and grandnephews, Ronald "R.J.," Connor, Tyler Brody, Katie and Kaylee.

William Dunkle
William A. Dunkle, 66, of Emsworth, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.
Mr. Dunkle worked in restaurant design as a draftsman for more than 30 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed going to the casino, vacations out West, and his dog, Tahoe.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann King Dunkle; two children, Matthew Dunkle and his wife Margot Brno of Raccoon Township and Melissa Dunkle of Oakmont; his mother, Marie Arend Dunkle; three siblings, Barbara Forster and her husband Charles "Bud," David Dunkle and Darlene Jost and her husband Thomas; his brother-in-law, Thomas King and his wife Bonnie; and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Neiley
Dorothy "Dolly" Margus Neiley, 92, of Avalon, wife of the late Howard C. Neiley, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.
She is survived by two children, Robert Neiley and his wife Janice and Michelle Mitzel and her husband John; four grandsons, John Ross, Scott Schawalder, Adam Schawalder and Sean Neiley; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Dr. Akio Aburano
Dr. Akio Aburano, 87, of Dormont, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Bernauer Aburano.
A memorial service will be held in Bethany Lutheran Church, Dormont, later. Arrangements were made by McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon.

Ronald Muick
Ronald S. Muick died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Rovitto Muick; three children, Stephanie M. Cervone and her husband Jason, Peter Parks and his wife Mary Beth and Pamela Bove; his parents, Capt. Steve and Margaret Michelotti Muick; two siblings, Judith Persinger and her husband Thomas and Linda Muick Opferman; and eight grandchildren, Josephine D. Cervone, Jason R. Cervone, Jeffrey Bove, Benjamin Bove, Dallas Bove, Jenna Parks, Madison Parks and Kelsey Bove. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Parks; and his brother, Lanny Muick.

Margaret Bauer
Margaret G. "Peg" Bauer, 85, of Avalon, formerly of Observatory Hill and wife of the late David R. "Skip" Bauer, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013.
Mrs. Bauer was retired from First Seneca Bank.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Bauer Chunko and her husband James and Kimberly Bauer Evans and her husband Steven; her sister, Bette Seeno Spagnola; two grandchildren, Jennifer Bauer Emerson and her husband Eric and Jonathan Chunko; and Valerie Branowitzer. She was preceded in death by her son, David N. Bauer and his wife Theresa A.; and three siblings, Flora Giardina, Mary Raphael and Eugene Seeno.

Sabrina Devereaux
Sabrina C. Devereaux, 35, of Butler, PA died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Devereaux earned her BA degree in criminology at Indiana University of PA and graduated from its police academy in 2000. She was a patrol officer for McCandless Township for 11 years. She was a hostage negotiator for North Hills S.E.R.T. She also was a firearms instructor and a range officer. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
She is survived by her husband, John Devereaux; her parents, Ben C. Burnheimer of Pittsburgh and Melanie S. Wolfe Burnheimer of Vandergrift; her brother, Benjamin Burnheimer and his wife Cathy of Ohio Twp.; three nieces, Madalin, Leah and Mya Burnheimer; her grandparents, Leonard C. and Leota C. Wolfe of Leechburg, PA; and aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ben C. and Rose M. Burnheimer.

Dorothy DiLembo
Dorothy C. DiLembo, wife of the late Anthony DiLembo, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013.
She is survived by her son, Anthony V. DiLembo and his wife Maria Nina; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Donald W. DiLembo and Carol Ann DiLembo.
There was no visitation and burial was private. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Vincent Panucci Sr.
Vincent A. Panucci Sr. of Bellevue, formerly of McKees Rocks, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013.
Mr. Panucci was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Bellevue Council #1400. He was an usher at the Church of the Assumption for 50 years. He was retired from the PA Department of Revenue and proprietor of Panucci's Modern Barbershop along with his brother, Joe, from 1952 until 2002. He was treasurer of Stowe-Ken-Rox Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Panucci, three sons, Vincent Panucci and his wife Pamela of Robinson Township, Ronald Panucci and his wife Kathy Miles of Ross Township and David Panucci and his wife Dana of Oakdale; three siblings, Grace Farrar of Covina, CA, Joseph Panucci and his wife Barbara of McKees Rocks and Evelyn Gross of Franklin Park; and four grandsons, Nicholas, Dominic, Julian and Dante. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Marie Panucci; and 12 siblings.

Linda Walsh
Linda Lee Holfelder Walsh, 58, of Bellevue, wife of the late Karl Walsh, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013.
She is survived by three children, Dawn Bellotti and her husband Jon, Stephen Metz and his wife April and Anthony Aversa and his wife Amanda; two siblings, Mark Holfelder and his wife Kitty and Christine Aversa and her husband Scott; and 11 grandchildren.

Mary Wanninger
Mary Natale Wanninger, wife of the late Joseph F. Wanninger Sr., died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013.
She is survived by seven children, Joseph F. Wanninger Jr. and his wife Joyce, Paul A. Wanninger, Mary Ann Speer and her husband Robert, Richard S. Wanninger and his wife Patricia, Donald L. Wanninger and his wife Dawn, Patricia McComb and her husband George and Carol M. Costa and her husband Larry; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Komm
Kathleen J. Komm, 73, of Ross Township, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013.
She is survived by her husband, Carl A. Komm Jr.; two children, Susan C. Smith and her husband Jeff of Ross Township and Stephen C. Komm of Maryville, TN; her sister, Evelyn Phillips and her husband William of Namaimo, British Columbia; her granddaughter, Rebecca Joy Smith; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Radjenovic.
Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon, until the time of services on Tuesday. Burial was private.

Marian Webb
Marian R. Paslian Webb, 85, of Ohio Twp., wife of the late Merlin R. "Merl" Webb, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013.
Mrs. Webb was an active member of Teutonia Mannerchor, 66 Club and enjoyed her Erie Lunch Bunch friends.
She is survived by two children, Michelle Paschl and her husband Kurt and Michael Webb and his wife Phyllis; her sister, Louise Gualt; four grandchildren, Timothy Webb, Nicole Webb, Sarah Paschl and Ashley Paschl; and her great-granddaughter, Rylee Anne Marie Dreves.

Arthur Victor Jr.
Ret. Lt. Col. Arthur O. Victor Jr., 59, formerly of Brighton Heights, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013.
Mr. Victor was a 1976 graduate of West Point Military Academy. He served in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He served at home as commander in the Green Berets Special Forces and later as an officer in the Reserves with 26 years of service. He then worked for the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, holding several positions. He was a board member for organizations such as Veterans Leadership program, Pittsburgh Marathon and the U.S. Service Academy Selection Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Slagel Victor; four children, Justin Victor and his wife Nina of East Allegheny, Gregory Victor of Fort Eustis, VA, Jessica Lucey and her husband Jordan of Cheyenne, WY and Paul Victor of Hollywood, FL; his mother, Marguerite Victor of Ross Township; and two brothers, Thomas and James Victor. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Victor Sr.
Friends were received at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Ross Township. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Friday with Fr. Bruney officiating. Burial was in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Donations are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Joseph Chmiel Sr.
Joseph Anthony Chmiel Sr., 89, of Crafton Heights, husband of the late Dorothy Vroble Chmiel, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013.
Mr. Chmiel was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 854th Engineers Aviation Battalion. After the war, he worked as a driver for Capital Transit in Washington, DC, Greyhound, Pittsburgh Railways and Port Authority Transit of Allegheny County. He was a longtime member of St. Philip Parish and St. Vincent de Paul Society. In 2011, he was awarded the Manifesting the Kingdom volunteer award.
He is survived by seven children, Bernadine Swanzy and her husband Jack of Fredericksburg, TX, Charlene Pettigrew and her husband Keith of Alpharetta, GA, Mary Georgette Kastory of Avalon, Joe Chmiel Jr. of Pittsburgh, Ann Hrabik and her husband Joe of North Fayette, Barbara Smith and her husband Cliff of Needham, MA and Dorothy Chmiel of Crafton Heights; two siblings, Walter Chmiel and his wife Dolores and Jean Chmiel; 10 grandchildren, David Paul Kastory and his wife Angie, Michael John Swanzy and his wife Geraldine, Beth Kelly and her husband Scott, Jenny Swanzy, Erica Pettigrew, Stephen Pettigrew, Madeline Hrabik, Allie Hrabik, Emily Smith and Harrison Smith; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Benjamin Kelly; his sister-in-law, Mary Katherine Langor; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Kastory; and his son-in-law, Dave Kastory.

Kathryn Pirro
Kathryn A. Beck Pirro, 91, of McKees Rocks, formerly of Bellevue and wife of the late Robert Pirro, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 in Caring Heights Nursing Home.
She is survived by three children, Robert William Pirro, Deborah J. Geisler and Diane L. Eller; and two grandchildren, John Michael Balobeck and Christina Lynn Maloney. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Balobeck (Fallon); and two brothers, William Beck and Harold Beck.
Friends were received at McDermott Funeral Home, Kennedy Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Malachy Church on Saturday. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Josephine Tamosauskas
Josephine C. Tamosauskas, 92, of Ben Avon, wife of the late Albert E. Tamosauskas, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013.
Mrs. Tamosauskas was a member of the Centering Prayer Group at Sacred Heart Church in Emsworth and was a volunteer, along with her husband, visitor to shut-ins.
She is survived by seven children, Barbara Nance, Geraldine Bezila and her husband Rich, Patricia Tamosauskas, John Tamosauskas and his wife Lynn, Michael Tamosauskas and his wife Debra, Julie Tamosauskas and Rona Tamosauskas; three sisters, Theresa Tamosauskas and her husband Paul, Anna Tamosauskas and her husband Henry and Agnes Zappala and her husband Joseph; six grandchildren, Christine, David, Janice, Emily, Ryan and Lauren; and five great-grandchildren, Tony, Zachary, Lily Elliana and Brooks. She was preceded in death by two children, Roberta Desilets and Paul J. Tamosauskas.

Robert Heck Sr.
Robert J. Heck Sr., 72, of Bellevue, husband of the late Louise Menzl Heck, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013.
Mr. Heck was retired as a welder in the steel industry. He enjoyed riding his Harley and attending car shows.
He is survived by five children, Robert Heck Jr. and his wife Sandra, Tina Mazzetti and her husband Gene, Barbara McGrady, David Heck and his wife Alma and Theresa Heck and her husband Dan Klimek; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two siblings, John and Betty Jo.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Saturday. Burial was in Allegheny County Memorial Park.

James Lepinsky
James J. Lepinsky, 88, of Brighton Heights, husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Lepinsky, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013.
He is survived by two children, Joan Sterritt and her husband David and James Lepinsky and his wife Oi; four stepchildren, George Storey and his wife Vickie, Marie Rhodes and her husband James, Faye Davis and her husband George and William Storey and his wife Dale; two siblings, Casimer Lepinskas and Alva Boley; 23 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three stepchildren, June, Robert and Henry Storey.
Friends were received at Hughes Funeral Home, Troy Hill, where services were held on Monday.

Mark Vardzel
Mark Vardzel, 56, of Saegertown, PA passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013.
Born July 7, 1957 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Stephen Vardzel and Janice Diana, both of Pittsburgh.
He retired as a truck driver with Leaseway. He was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Vardzel-Imhof and husband, David; Samantha Vardzel, Heather Vardzel; grandchildren Avery, Spencer and Ella Imhof and Devon and Dorian Calloway; brother, Greg Vardzel and his wife Barb, all of Pittsburgh; a niece, Christina Vardzel; and a nephew, Brandon Vardzel.
The memorial service was private and at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Christ the Redeemer Cemetery. Arranements were made by Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, Meadville, PA.

David Allen Scott
David Allan Scott, 48, died Dec. 19, 2013 in a car accident in Bradford, PA.
He graduated from Avonworth High School in 1985. He received his CDL license and was a professional truck driver.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Mildred Scott of Ben Avon Heights; siblings, Cynthia Scott Weaver and husband Jim of Hudson, OH, Garrett Scott and wife Laura of Cuyuhoga Fall, OH, and Karen Scott of Kilbuck Township; seven nieces, one nephew, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral arrangements were private.
