Judith Lee Fichter
Judith Lee Fitcher, 84, of Avalon, died Jan. 1, 2019.
She is survived by her nieces, Jean (Chris) Corkill and Linda (John) Grubba; and great-nephew, Matthew Grubba and his family, Tiffany Minard and Glenn Merkel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew J. and Lillian Fichter; brother, John A. Fichter; and close cousins, Carol Jean Black and Sherry Fink.
Judy was a longtime Bellevue resident, and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Masters from Duquesne University. She was a foreign language teacher for 32 years at North Hills High School. In retirement, she enjoyed her work in retail at Horne's Department Store, Edie's Gift Shop, and Phyllis' Fashions. Judy was a dedicated volunteer for 22 years at Allegheny General Hospital and an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church of Brighton Heights.
Memorial contributions are suggested to All Saints Episcopal Church, 3577 McClure Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Ruth N. (Vaupel) Bruno
Ruth N. (Vaupel) Bruno, 95, of Avalon, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.
She was the mother of Twila and Anthony Bruno; wife of the late Anthony J. Bruno; sister of the late Mary Jane Messner and the late William Vaupel; survived by nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a resident of Avalon for 61 years and attended Greenstone Church. Memorial donations suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Animal Friends. Arrangements by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc.

Alice A. Carothers
Alice A. Carothers, of Bellevue, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019.
She was the daughter of the late Harry and Thelma (Stitt) Carothers; sister of Shirley McGonigle, Betty Hutterer and the late Donald Carothers and Susan Alexander; aunt of Robin (Randy) Bevan, Jean Platt and Linda (Steve) Herbold; also several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family suggests contributions in Alice’s memory to St. John Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenberg Way, Mars, PA 16046.
There was no visitation. Services and interment private.

Virginia Anne “Ginny” Heyl
Virginia Anne (Rogers) Heyl, 71, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Louis Rogers.
She was the wife of Robert L. Heyl; mother of Brian (Beth) and Daniel "Bo" (Jen) Koishal; stepmother of Robert L., Jr. (Lynne), David B. and Daniel P. (Tara) Heyl; sister of Sandra R. (the late Gerald) McArdle and the late James L. (surviving wife Patricia) Rogers; grandmother of Brandon, Ethan, Christina and Millie Koishal, Nolan, Brooke, Jordan and Avery Heyl; Aunt of Michael (Jessica) and Keith (Kris) McArdle.
She enjoyed the outdoors, visiting parks, and crafting. She expressed patience and gentleness in all her actions, always keeping her focus on others. Ginny was kind, patient, generous, a good listener, and had the biggest of hearts despite her petite stature.
Grandma Ginny has left lasting memories with her grandkids of cookie baking, tree decorating, flower planting, and playing Uno.
Donations in memory of Ginny, who fought this debilitating disease for over 23 years with a positive spirit and incredible inner strength, are suggested to the Parkinson Foundation of Western PA, 575 Lincoln Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15202, to help researchers learn more to discover a cure.
Friends received Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 460 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, for a memorial visitation from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
