New president

Bellevue Council has a new president, as council reorganized a short time into Tuesday’s regular meeting.

Former president Tom Fodi announced earlier this month that he would step down from the president’s seat due to demands on his attention and time created by family and work.

Fodi took that step at Tuesday’s meeting after presenting a local business owner with a proclamation recognizing 40 years as part of the Bellevue business community.

Within minutes, Tom Hrynda was unanimously elected to take over as president. Hrynda has been a member of council for just over three years, but has been deeply involved in community service and the planning commission for many years.

Hrynda acknowledged that “a lot of things haven’t been by the book. A lot of things have fallen through the cracks.” He said that he hoped to remedy those problems, and invited residents to contact him with questions or concerns.
