New board member

The vacancy on the Northgate School Board left by the resignation last month of Brigitte Jackson was filled at Monday evening's regular board meeting.

With only one applicant for the position, which lasts only until December, the board appointed Christine King to the seat. She was not present at the meeting to be sworn in, but will be able to take the oath of office before the board meets again in August.

King already is a candidate in the general election for a four-year term on the school board.

A two-year seat created by the resignation should also be decided in the November election.
