Light replacement

Emsworth’s Center Avenue will soon be a bit brighter.

At the April 11 council meeting, a motion was approved unanimously to purchase 10 new LED lights at a cost of $1,217 each. The new lights come with a 10-year warranty, and 65 percent of the light will shine on the street and 35 percent on the sidewalk.

Council member Paul Getz and the Emsworth DPW will install the new lights.

Additionally, at the request of Mayor AmySue Lillie, council approved a motion 4-3 allowing Lillie to contact local businesses to see if they would be interested in sponsoring a light. By paying for a light, a business would be recognized with a small plaque placed on the light post. Kevin Yurkovick, Paul Getz and Brian Fashian voted against the motion.
