Having missed out on the WPIAL playoffs for over a decade, the Northgate girls’ basketball team has their sights set on changing all of that as the new season began last weekend in the Brentwood Tournament.

On Friday, Dec. 7, the Lady Flames fell to Brentwood, the eventual tourney champion, 67-37.

Cierra Mason led the Northgate offense with 21 points.

The following night Northgate rolled past Steel Valley in the consolation game 50-17. Mason finished with 23 points. Savannah Livingston and Maddy Abramowicz dominated off the glass, combining for 25 rebounds.

Northgate made it two wins in a row when they crushed Cornell this past Monday 62-2. Mason recorded a double-double with 19 points and 21 assists.
