Flames come close

It was a contest between winless teams when the Northgate Flames hosted the Springdale Dynamos in non-conference play last Saturday. Trailing 14-2 going into the fourth quarter, the Flames mounted a comeback but came up short and fell 14-11.

Springdale was leading 7-0 when Northgate’s Nate O’Mara recorded a safety to put the score at 7-2 with 7:33 left in the second quarter. The score remained that way into the third quarter when a Flame fumble at their 27 set up another touchdown for the Dynamos to extend the lead to 14-2.

Northgate’s Heman Dargee intercepted a pass and completed the ensuing Flame possession by kicking a 30-yard field goal that put the score at 14-5 in the fourth quarter.

Dylan White’s fumble recovery led to a Northgate touchdown, a pass reception by Zack Reskovac from Davonte Christie, that put the final score at 14-11.

The Flames (0-4, 0-7) travel to Rochester (4-1, 6-1) for a conference game tonight at 7:30 p.m.
