Emsworth construction

As a result of the borough council awarding contracts at its March meeting, two large projects will begin soon in Emsworth.

The Marmo Park renovation project involves resurfacing the existing basketball court, converting the tennis court to pickleball courts, minor drainage work, parking lot milling and overlay and installing ADA access. Six bids were received for the project, ranging in price from $67,050 to more than $300,000.

McElroy Paving, Inc. was awarded the contract for $67,050.

Engineer Dennis Flynn from Gateway Engineers said the estimated cost of the project had been approximately $100,000.

The second, the Route 65 special sewer repair project, involves the installation of a new sanitary sewer manhole and approximately 100 linear feet of 8-inch pipe lining at a site on Ohio River Boulevard. The job includes traffic control, detours, resident notification, and repair and restoration of the roadway. The boulevard will be closed for one weekend during installation, and short-term lane closures may occur the following week.

Three bids were received for the Route 65 project ranging in price from $77,441 to over $151,000.

Jet Jack, Inc. was awarded the contract for $77,441.

Gateway Engineers had estimated the cost of the project at $75,000.
